COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
a.k.a. Chris’s Summer Delight, an unfiltered, refreshingly tart small batch beer conceived by our own Chris Haveman from 50% wheat malt and just a touch of Hersbrucker hops.

Bomber bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with fluffy white head. Aroma is fruity, mostly dominated by lemon, but with hints of grape and pear cider as well. Flavor is light and quite tart, pretty refreshing, though perhaps a tad too sour. Overall pretty good.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Aroma is wheaty, doughy bread, some lacto. Pours slightly hazy gold with a medium white head that falls into a blanket somewhat quick. Taste is nice and tart, lemony, thirst-quenching, salty. Creamy mouthfeel with a thin body. This is definitely perfect for summer. Seems like it would be better suited in a smaller package, though. The bomber is a bit awkward for carrying around to different summer destinations. A six-pack (hell, a 12 pack) of 12 ouncers would go down good at the beach, I think. Nice one.

22oz Bottle, purchased at Kingstown Liquor Mart - North Kingstown, RI. Golden ale, wet cracker, and lemon juice lacto aroma. Reminiscent of fermented hay. Wow. That is tart and fresh. Hmmm. A big part of me suspects this to be a light golden ale fermented with some unmalted wheat and having commercial grade lacto acid added to it. In the back of my mind is an inkling that these farmy, straw and hay-forward flavors indicate true lacto fermentation, but I’m just not sure. The acid comes on hot, fresh, and fast. This kind of has an alco-pop glaze to the whole thing, lacking the nuance of an Old World example. Strange, astrignent tongue-smacking finish. Not my favorite interpretation.

Lemon aroma. Tart, refreshing, not bad. Apple cider with a malt backbone and more fruit in the finish.

651mL shared at Campdown Brewdown. Poured a clear yellow. Weak head. Nose is a bit poopy with urine. Taste is buttery and lemon. Very slick. Palate is papery, thin. Not really a Berliner Weisse. Very poor.

JLLSU (238) - Acworth, Georgia, USA - AUG 19, 2012
22oz bottle from Total Wine- Kennesaw, GA. Pours dull gold with a fizzy white head that instantly disappears. Not much of an aroma at all, but there is a little bit of funky hay. Taste is lemony grain without much sour on the back end. Palate is decently carbonated and sort of astringent. Not a bad little beer, but nothing memorable.

On Tap at the Brewpub in Hood River, OR Light golden with a short lived white head. Light malty aroma and a p[pleasant soft flavor. Quick and refreshing.

ChainGangGuy (4368) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - AUG 18, 2012
22 ounce bottle - $4.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a clear, delicate golden-hued body with an inch-plus head of white foam.

Smell: Cereal grains and wheat soaked leisurely in sour lemon juices with a yogurt-esque lactic hint enveloping it.

Taste: A touch of sweetened grains, then a lemony, citrusy twang pops on the tongue. Light vegetal tones. The lactic quality is there, but it’s pretty mild not quite allowing for a full-on pucker (or even a near-pucker grimace). Some minerals and more of the mild lactic character on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: I found it to be both pleasant and quite refreshing, which was what I was looking for in this beer.

madvike (2712) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 16, 2012
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2012 Bottle - Pours light amber with a thin film of light tan head. Nose is sour wheat, not very tart, with hints of lemon. Taste is pretty dry and minerally, with a light sour wheat tang and a sheen of citrus on the finish. A bit watery, and well-carbonated. The definition of meh, and bummed that this wasn’t good. A $4.99 bomber of berliner weisse is something I don’t see every day.
