a.k.a. Chris’s Summer Delight, an unfiltered, refreshingly tart small batch beer conceived by our own Chris Haveman from 50% wheat malt and just a touch of Hersbrucker hops.

Awesome sour beer Berliner Weisse style. Just the right amount of acidic bite in the middle, nice clean wheat finish. Seriously smells like mown grass. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at OBF. Pours hazy gold with a disappearing head. Mild sour fruit aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is sour with something like lemon and light pitted fruit. The sour is firm, but not super strong. There’s a touch of bread in the finish.

The aroma is sour, grainy, toasted malt. Not sweet at all. The appearance is gold/orange, quickly dissipating white head. The flavor is sour, vegetables, lemon, cardboard. The finish is tart, dry, grainy flavors, cardboard. Light/medium in body. Not good at all. This beer is the reason why they started cutting berliner weiss with raspberry syrup.

Draught at the Pilsner Room in Portland. Bright golden, with a thick, fine white head. Faint nose of lemon, minerals and a bit of lactic acid. Lemon flavor, light yogurt, big malt, quite salty. Alka-seltzer like minerals. Nice lemon, but it lacks sufficient lacto character.

Bottle. Pours gold with white head. Nose/taste of banana, lemon, sour mash and wheat malt. Finishes slightly tart. Lighter body.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a medium sized white head. A touch of corn and funk on the nose. Medium bodied, sweet and grainy, a hint of lactic acid. Then gets a touch unpleasant, old paper and grain. Wheat and corn juice, some off flavors and then lemon juice. Strange papery bitterness follows, grainy and weird. Not the best example of the style. Vaguely drinkable, but not really worthwhile.

On tap at Saraveza’s IIPA Fest, to cleanse the palate. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is heavy on the wheat, with a slight tartness. Flavour is very wheaty, with only a slight tartness - very low acidity. Refreshing I suppose, but not so well made.

Draft. Clear gold with a white head. Light tart and lemony, a little bit of sweetness, and some just slightly off grainy notes. Medium dry finish, with a hint of wheat and grains. This is close to being good, but doesn’t quite hit the mark. Still pretty refreshing.

To think that I used to deprecate wheat beers. Pleasant grassy and floral aroma, smelled. Wheaty flavour with bread and hoppy notes. Hoppy finish with a sweet bit.

I know their hearts were in the right place, but this is a disappointing miss. Medium-light body, light amber. It’s kinda sour-ish, sorta.
