a.k.a. Chris’s Summer Delight, an unfiltered, refreshingly tart small batch beer conceived by our own Chris Haveman from 50% wheat malt and just a touch of Hersbrucker hops.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden with two fingers of coarse white head. Aroma is lactic, sour, wheat. Flavor is tart, lactic, sour apple/pear/cider, sour wheat. Moderate carbonation, light body, and watery texture. Not a good, authentic, or enjoyable berlinerweiss, there are many better options.

Alphadelic (1751) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 10, 2013
clear golden with sustained head. flat and toasty malts with a hint of chalky, dry apple. in the mouth the sourness has a very vinegary flavour but isn’t all that tart. Which is very strange. tasty but it has plenty of off stuff and a very 2d malt character.

FlacoAlto (3759) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - DEC 31, 2012
Sampled on tap at 1702, Tucson; July 2012
Arrives from the tap with a frothy, one finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a gold color that shows a clear, straw gold color. Lightly tart smelling with a slight lemon note, it mostly has a thin, beery / grainy note to it, a touch of straw, and some green apple notes.

A touch more sour than I was expecting from the nose, it has a clean lactic tartness to it, and this mixes in with a thin grainy / grassy note, as well as a cheap lager finish somehow; perhaps this last is a little corn like. Fairly light bodied, it does have some lactic slickness to it, but this is still down right quaffable brew; it actually seems to have a touch more body than your usual Berliner would have.

Really a rather poor example of the style. It still manages to be refreshing, but the cheap lager like corn character is a bit of a distraction and really doesn’t work here.

22 ounce bottle, pours a light hazy yellow color with aroams of wheat, light lemon, and some light funk. Flavors arre tart lemons, and some wheat. Light and refreshing, wish there was some more tart flavor overall.

Bottle. Light amber with one finger head. Nicely tart with lots of lemon. Very refreshing brew, but perhaps a bit one dimensional.

Bookseeb (111) - Wenatchee, Washington, USA - DEC 11, 2012
Appearance is golden light supporting a thin crisp head that dissipates quickly leaving no lace. Smell is light on the nose with malt, wheat and lemon citrus. Taste has the malt, wheat and a sour lemon that chases to the end. Mouthfeel is light with good carbonation. certainly wakes the mouth up with that punch of tart.

Utah state liquor store bottle. Yep I bought it because it was a Berliner Weisse and not because of its ranking. A little grainy and thin for me. A little tartness but that is overpowered by some dustiness. Meh.
