From a growler fill at the brewery in Hood River. Pours deep amber with a one inch head and modest lacings. Aroma is malty. The taste is tangy bitter hops with enough tasted malts to balance the flavor. Finish is bitter and smooth. Good session brew at 5.1% abv. Good job Phil!

Nice malt flavors that make for a very drinkable beer. Hops are balanced and leave a bit on the palate but not too much. Decent alcohol level so it is not overpowering. Highly drinkable and enjoyable.

Bottle. Dark copper with a short, foamy tan head. Aroma is hoppy and slightly spicy with caramel notes, grains, bread and grassy notes. Taste is caramel, spicy hops, grassy notes, earthy hops, sweet malt and bread. Body is medium with a strong, fizzy carbonation. Finishes with more caramel, grains, bread, sweet malt, soft fruit notes, earthy hops and grassy notes.

Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Aroma of smooth roast malt and perhaps a bit of grassy hop. Med body. Flavor is primarily smooth roast malt, and I think the hops are grassy. The finish approaches astringent, and the malt seems to provide bitter. It’s certainly bitter, and it tends towards dry. Excellent.

Bottle from Sprout’s: Poured a dark tea brown color topped with a thick layer of frothy head. Aroma is sweet with caramel and toffee like malts but also catch a whiff of cereal as well. The drink comes across nicely balanced with firm backing of sweet syrupy malts that suggest caramel and burnt sugar while also delivering a gentle usage of hops. Finish leaves behind a taste of green tea.

22oz Bottle. The pour was a clear caramel brown with a large (2-3 finger) off white pillowy head that was mostly lasting, finally receding to a large cap with excellent streaky lacing. The aroma was nice and enticing with a toasted sweet grain malt, light floral hops and a mild doughy yeast and had hints of caramel, honey and a slight fruity ester. The taste was good and malty with a nice caramel sweetness in the beginning, and then took on a mild fruity hoppiness with a slight bitterness creeping in at the end. The flavor hung on for a good duration proceeding the swallow with a mild citrus peel bitterness lingering for a little while longer. Mouthfeel was a few steps above light in body with a smooth creamy texture and a somewhat mild carbonation. Overall probably the best Altbier I have tasted to date, it was malty-sweet with a good hoppiness and a great drinkability. There is not much more one could ask for within this style...
