BlackDonald (724), On a beer trip all over the USA, California, USA May 22, 2008 2003 - This was a very interesting take on the style, I actually found this to be quite enjoyable. Assertive fruit notes in the nose, with some yeasty qualities on the palate, that intermingle nicely with the rich caramel maltiness, leaving a lingering honey sweetness. Not as full-bodied as I would like, this still has a great texture and drinkability. Very interesting and very well balanced. Crosling (1605), Loveland, Colorado, USA Oct 3, 2004 Dark gloomy peach amber in color. Big dense head laced very well.
Dry hop aroma, sweet malts with some fruitness in the nose.
Very unique flavor. Somewhat spicy with ginger, cinnamon, pumpkin but I doubt they use spices. Sweet malts and a lingering dry bitterness on the finish.
leitrim65 (396), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 29, 2004 Pours a light amber color with a small off-white head. A mild aroma that includes raisins, malt, licorice, and caramel. Medium bodied with a sort of silky texture. The flavors are a fine mix of licorice, raisons, malt, caramel, and a simple touch of hops in the finish. Pretty good. MrRomero (1874), Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany Jun 9, 2004 Pours a deep copper color with a fluffy tan head. Big sweet malt aroma, light hops. Has a malty flavor with hints of smoke and maybe a little chocolate. Finishes bitter. A tasty, well-rounded, full-bodied beer. whaleman (2168), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 9, 2004 Off-white cottony head and nice apricot color body with some very fine particles. Powerful nose of toasted, buttery malts, fresh wort, and spicy hops. Flavor is malty, herbal, and resinous. Big flavor for a 6.0% beer. Considerable bitterness for such a malty brew, a little astringent even. Still, fresh and unique.
