New for 2011, this Imperial IPAís full malt body is elevated by the loads of hop flavor and bitterness. Copious amounts of Citra, Chinook, Columbus, Cascade and Centennial hops are used to give this beer a wonderful aroma of orange zest and lemon. This fruitiness from the hops is complimented by a nice caramel biscuit malt flavor from the pale and crystal malts and finishes balanced with a slight hop kick. This beer was dry hopped for your enjoyment. Available in 22oz Bottles and Draught ABV 7.5% IBUs: 80

Bottle @ home. Ruby orange distance with a creamy tan head. Slightly spicy, lightly fruity, mildly hoppy nose. Well carbonated, mildly hoppy, moderately bitter, earthy, weird flavor. Not very good.

Bottle at Johnís house. Pours gold. White head. Nose/taste of citrus, pineapple, apple skin and caramel malt. Muted. Dryish finish. Lighter body for an imperial. More like an IPA and a 1/2.

Clear golden pour topped by a thick sticky white head. The aroma is slightly dank with a touch of soft citrus as well. Significant malt aroma underneath but the hops definitely dominate. A bit of caramel malt through the middle. A little bit of zesty spiciness in addition to the light citrus notes. A little bit of pine as well, but this is a light backnote. The citra is definitely there in the aroma, but the flavour leans more toward orange. Itís a tasty brew, but something about the hop mix in this one doesnít quite work for me.

elevation is a common word but there are only two beers named such. that makes no sense. I drank this but donít really remember it. kind of hoppy, kind of oily, a bit caramel-heavy. filtered, clean, boring, but cheap.

22oz bottle: Pours a clear deep copper orange with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet toasty caramel malty nose with some sweaty hops notes and grapefruity citrus. Starts with pretty good fullness and chewy sweet light caramel malts with some lemony pine resin hop flavor before a drier bittersweet finish. Not sure if I like the hop profile on this one. A little to citric and tart with some musty notes.

Bomber pours clear copper with white head. The aroma offers up firm bold spicy hops, some tangelo and pine resin like bitter hoppiness. Nice. I think it leans a touch toward tropical fruit. It seems the aroma is almost sticky with hops and it makes me wonder if the flavor can deliver. And . . . the taste is fortunately similar with robust sticky yummy citrus and spicy hops rolling swiftly from side to side with a mild sense of bitter pine hops and some malt sweetened grapefruit like hops going on in the background. Iím loving the bold hoppiness of both bitter and flavor type hops. Yum.

On tap at PIB, pours hazy copper with a small off-white head. Aroma is intensely citrusy hoppy; harsh bitterness / very one-sided. Flavour is very one-sided as well on the hops; pretty sharp with no malt balance. Not so well-made to be honest. The hops are almost stale and very hash (not in a good way, this coming from a IIPA lover). Drinkable.
