3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 drismyhero (815) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - MAR 3, 2003
I'm always anxious when a brewery as well-rounded as Full Sail puts out a new beer, buit this fell a bit short. Truly malty for a porter, this beer lacks the fundamental (for my standards) roastiness a beer of this style should have. It was a bit unbalanced for me, although there is a time and place for beer like this - when you want a scotch ale but all that's available are porters. Nice, but not my cup of tea.

It tasted burnt, but not overly so. Not balanced. Bitter. Chocolate and caramel are there, but not slap-me-in-the-mouth good.

Smells faintly of barley malts, lookd pretty good, thick tan head, dark body, chocolate flavor, tangy pine finish with mild hops, somewhat of a thin mouthfeel, not the best porter in the area by any stretch. I do however find the mid 90's indy grab on the sixer most radical.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Linc (736) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 26, 2003
Slight smokey aroma, mocha/caramalt flavour. Not extremely complex but it's still a good flavour. Finishes with a bold hop presence that lets you know it's definately not english.

Tan, creamy head, mostly diminishing. Lots of coffee in the aroma. A little sweetness, too. As for flavor, it's mostly coffee with a little chocolate undertone, back to the coffee in the after taste. Not too much bitterness, right in the neighborhood of just right. This porter falls into style where I really like them, not too bitter, not too sweet.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GermanBrews76 (675) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAR 20, 2003
Thin off white head, disappeared quickly. Deep dark body, chestnut brown. Roastey nose with hints of milk chocolate and vanilla. Slightly burnt tongue, a dry roastey barley finish. A little weak in body and complexity, but a phat session porter, very drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Steib (613) - Queen Creek, Arizona, USA - MAY 17, 2003
Float coffee beans on that head. Very dark brown color. Coffee flavor present, not overwelming. Average, not too bitter or too sweet. Expected more.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thehoff (569) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - APR 18, 2004
This was a gift from my brother-in-law stationed in Seattle WA, Air Force.
Deep ruby black. No head but it would be a nice tan. Smells sweet like oatmeal, perhaps some raisin/prune, malt, chocolate. Bitter and very dry, some coffee flavor, nice and smooth. Nice microbrew, and a good porter.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 flutetokill (523) - Fresno, California, USA - MAR 23, 2004
Dark brown color with red highlights and a medium off-white head. Very faint sweet and sour aroma. Mild coffee, malt, floral, and citrus hops flavors. Not great.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Gromit (479) - Port Orchard, Washington, USA - JAN 24, 2004
Pours a very dark brown - almost black - with a decent head but virtually no lace.
Scent is of roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, with a hint of butterscotch?
Taste is malty yet balanced. Perhaps a bit astringent. Roasted malt and cocoa are present as are a touch of hops.
Moutfeel is thicker than most Porters and has a nice mineral feel to it. Overall this is a very nice Porter.
