COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the sun rises earlier and stays out longer, we celebrate the coming of spring and the sprouting of this year’s hop crop with a new beer in our Brewmaster Reserve line-up. Hop Pursuit is a crisp, orange blonde extra pale ale with a medium malt body that’s chased by a ton of hop flavor and zing of bitterness. We brewed it with the less aggressive, old school craft brewing hops– Cascade, Willamette, and Mt. Hood– to celebrate more of the hop flavor and less of the hop bitterness. These give the beer a nice and fresh citrus herbal character without a lot of intensity; instead it has a softly flavorful character with touches of orange and lemon. We dry hopped for two weeks to amplify these delicate hop flavors. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 6% IBU 55

Light golden pour. The nose is quite fresh. A bit of light pale malt and a kiss of light sweetness. Hops are pretty straightforward. A touch of light grassy/zesty aroma as well as a bit of orange peel as well. Malts are light and lean with a touch of honey… lingering sweetness on the finish.

22 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a lightly hazy amber color with a medium frothy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of floral, leafy hops with some toasted malts. The taste is floral, leafy, citrus and tropical fruit hop notes with pale malts and a faint bit of caramel. Medium bodied. Decent beer.

bottle, filtered. clear medium copper color. first impression of the nose is gelatin, lime, cream, mint, saccharin and floral soap. WTH? pale/weak body, flabby up front, bitter but transparent and dull on the back. the hops are resinous and pine-like but are dull and peaked. the nose grows from strange to strongly offensive in only a few minutes.

2010-07-01. Crisp golden orange body, small creamy off-white head. 3+ Modest hops throughout, pleasant bitterness comes in waves of varying intensity. Some citrus notes, muddled touches of orange and lemon, brief hint of apple that I probably imagined. 6+ Modest aroma, mild hops, mild citrus and muted green hop hints. 6+ Average palate. Enjoyable but just too mild overall. On tap at Tap House Grill, Seattle

Bottle: Pours a transparent orange amber with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty pale malts with some fresh floral grapefruity hops. Starts with good fullness for the style with pleasant light malty sweetness well balanced with assertive citrusy bittering and flavor hops before a crisp bittersweet finish. Very drinkable and enjoyable.

Bomber pours clear copper with tan head. This playful aroma seems to be hiding behind the couch and refuses to come out. I get light notes of citrus orange peel and lime like hoppiness as well as some spicy hops and a sense of sweet fruity hard candy. The taste has a moderate level of bitter grapefruit and lime like citrus hops and then rolling into spicy and citrus hop flavor. Into the finish the largely citrus hop bitterness and flavor are joined by a thin river of sweet malts.

Sampled at the SpringBeerFest in Portland. Hazy bright orange. Aromas of orange citrus and sweet caramel. Flavours of tangerine, caramel. Palate is lighter, with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate bitterness. Easy drinking, really nice.

Pours amber with a decent beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a thin caramel malt flavor with dusty hop bitterness.
