Golden Orange, thin white head. Floral, grapefruit, perfumy pine aroma. Pine and woodsy flavors, as well. Very woodsy, resiny hop flaovrs. Earthy hop flavors, as well. Some malt flavors, but mostly hops. Balance is over rated, anyway. Thanks, Secret Santa!

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2004 2004 bottle. The color jumped out at me right away as being quite warm and rosy for an APA. Not the typical straw-yellow, but a nice reddish-orange, burnished copper, lightly hazy, with small little sediment pieces suspended well throughout the beer. Good white head sticks around. Aroma of hops, floral and dry, lightly bready and papery, some hints of orange. Flavor is much the same, very hoppy, bitter, juicy. I will agree with TannerTavernboys that the flavors didnt quite match the aroma. My biggest complaint was the relative lack of complexity. Even after letting it warm fully, it just seemed like another highly hopped beer. Not a tremendous amount of malt, light caramel at most. Medium body, some wateriness. Not bad, per se, but just kind of boring. Dosent stand out to make me want to buy it again.

Amber-orange; slightly hazy; decent head. Nice, cookie-dough malts, but they were subdued. Classic PNW hop flavors and aromas -- piney, flowery, grapefruity and citric. Lingering flower bitterness, but it never became distracting -- it was quite nice. Rather tasty beer, and very drinkable.

Had a nice full lacy head. Nice copper/gold color. Bubbled like champagne. A bit cloudy. Smelled like strong grapefruit with nothing else. Palate... eh. Flavor was of grassy and grapefruit hops. This beer rates high, but I don’t understand why. It was too plain and boring.

22 oz bomber 2004-pours a nice orange hue with some lacing. very citrusy aroma with oranges as strongest of the aromas. some notes of green bananas. Flavors were not as strong as the aroma. very bitter finish when cold, but started to mellow out as the brew warmed and became more balanced. When it warmed, the balance became more c-note apparent. APA? This is borderline IPA IMO. Good brew, but needs a few tweeks to become a top APA.

Pours a nice golden orange. Aromas of hops and citrus. Nice mellow hop citrus flavor. With a name like Hopocity, I thought or rather expected a more hop bite.

2004 bottling. There isn’t too much to write home about here- this is very standard fare. Has a clear golden body, topped by a thin off-white head. Aroma of piney hops. Flavor is standard pine and citrus hops mingling with toasty, lightly caramely malt. Nothing unique. The body is oily and very thin. Why bother when there are so many other better examples of the style?

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2005 number 549 on my beerwall, kinda weird its my first rating. The hop aroma itself made me feel i got my dollars worth. excelent heavy hopped beer, not overly bitter, great beer in my opinion. Pours a nice golden yellow with a tall white head. Lots of nice citrus hops, well balanced with a nice crisp finish.

Pours very light and golden, with just a hint of amber. Small frothy, slightly rocky head. Aroma is all very acidic fruits. The taste is toasty and tangy. I really think it is okay to drink, but it is not going to be a favorite, over the top on the hops, with not necessarily enough of a malt backbone, just the wrong kind of malt in my opinion. Slightly thin and lacking alot of complexity, overall disappointing.
