truegen (132), Puyallup, Washington, USA Mar 24, 2008 2008 bomber bottle. Dark chocolate color is completely opaque. Roasty coffee and nuts on the nose, with just a touch of dark fruit and wine. Flavor is also roasted malts and coffee, really thick on the tongue. Not a completely dry stout, but very close. This would probably be fantastic on nitro.
Angeloregon (1480), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 6, 2008 On tap at Full Sail tap room in Hood River, OR--Poured a deep black (slightly brown) body. Syrupy, chocolaty and thick. Rich complex notes and flavors. Chocolate, toffee, dark fruits, and finished with a great mild bitterness and creamy grittiness. WeeHeavySD (1497), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bomber, full sail has so damn dissapointing lately I expect this to suck suck suck. 2008 Vintage. Nice black pour with a good old brown head. dead nose. Thin taste. This is barely beer let alone an impy stout. gotohelunc (309), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 26, 2008 Draft. Pitch black with a nice solid tan head. Toffee on the nose and in the mouth. Very burned tasting. Certainly not bad, but really not very good for the style, either. SuperDave70 (577), Arizona, USA Jun 24, 2008 Deep black pour with a medium sized tight tan head. Some spotty lacing. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Hint of sweetness on the tongue, with chocolate and roasted grain dominating the flavor. A bit thin bodied. Slight bitterness and alcohol on the finish. Not bad. ChainGangGuy (1393), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 14, 2008 Appearance: Pours a black body with a frothy, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Roasty dark maltiness, some notes of dark chocolate, burnt grain, and, to a lesser degree, dark fruit.
Taste: Dark malts with chocolate and roast. No more than a mild sweetness. Faint touch of fruit. Strong, medium-high bitterness. Some burnt graininess. Peppery pop of alcohol. Finishes both dry and bitter.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Decent enough; not my favorite Imperial Stout on the block. It leaves me craving more richness and maltiness.
