2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Onenote81 (1002) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - APR 24, 2012Originally reviewed: 3/13/09. Pours a translucent brownish orange with a massive white foamy head resting comfortably on top. Retention is stellar. Decent globs of lacing on the glass edge.
Smells very yeasty and bready. Some weird vegetable thing going on in there as well. No pine, no real citrus presence. Different.
The hop bitterness is there, but very subdued. This a much more malty IPA than I am used to. I like the citrus hop kick in my beer, but this is pleasant no-less. Bready warm feel to it. Not too thick, not too watery.
This really wasn’t what I was expecting, a little underwhelming. In a market flooded with this style, why reach for this one?

More malt and earthiness than most IPAs, caramel nut flavor leads to a skunky dirtiness and a hoppy finish. Not a standout IPA.

cloudy dark yellow appearance. pretty good aroma though. bread, hay. leaves a dry taste in my mouth. A better than average beer. Not much of a citrusey flavor.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 6/20 bensonius (4) - British Columbia, CANADA - APR 29, 2013 does not count
Slight citrus with a hint of spruce aroma. Light mouth feel overpowered by bitterness with only a slight hop cut to it. More of a lager with more hop than your run of the mill mainstream beer.

Put one of these down last trip to Seattle. Not really what I’m looking for in an IPA - no hop punch

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours translucent dark straw with splotchy off-white head. Nose is very spicy, with white pepper, earthy florals, pale malt, noble hops. Tastes hoppy, in a noble sense, with a lot of bittering flavor, white peppery spice, pale malt, and a big IBU load.

12oz bottle. Rating #712. Not a bad IPA, very drinkable with a nice hop bite. Good stuff. (2679)
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 alcaponejunior (349) - Texas, USA - APR 12, 2013
Tannish colored and clear, some rising bubbles, 1 finger head and pretty good lace.
Aroma is a bit subdued but pleasant. There’s a mixture of hops and bready, caramel malts.
Flavor is more pronounced. Malts are forward, caramel, bread, toast, with a nice balance of citrus and floral hops.
Body is medium with smooth carbonation. Bitterness is clean but plentiful, with a lingering bitter finish.
Overall it’s tasty, if not outstanding.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bookseeb (52) - Wenatchee, Washington, USA - APR 9, 2013
Appearance has a golden orange color supporting a thin dissipating head and little spotty lace. Smell of citrus with nothing complex involving the hops and malt. Taste of the grapefruit bitter, soft caramel malt with a good dose of hops that survive to the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a light medium with good carbonation. A faily simple IPA.
