timfoolery (361), California, USA Jul 11, 2008 Bottle from Ledgers in Berkeley, CA. LTD 01 had a lighter, crisper flavor than 02. The problem was, there wasn’t a lot to it. This brew was excellently smooth and tasted of Motts apple juice. Very unlike any Dunkle I’ve had.
lumpsowers (87), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Sep 29, 2008 Weak head and lacing, deep copper color. Rusty raisin aroma. Flat carbonation. Floral fruity taste, thick mouth, kind of bland and sour. If this wasn’t limited I’d tell you to pass. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 16, 2008 16-Apr-07 (12 oz bottle: $7.49/six-pack at BevMo in La Jolla, CA) I really don’t know what to make of what seems to be a confused beer torn between English and German roots. Toasty and buttery, caramely and fairly sweet, balanced with a subtle, mildly bitter noble-hop flavor, and finishing with a touch of smoky roast. But putting all this aside (because I’m not one to rip a beer for straying from the style guidelines), this is still a very enjoyable beer to drink. It’s flavorful, soft and soothing on the palate and goes down silky smooth. The aroma is sweet, toasty and caramely with the hops taking on more role than on the tastebuds. Dark copper in color and perfectly clear, but the small, off-white head quickly fades away to a wide ring. Drew (2377), Kent, Ohio, USA Sep 8, 2008 Ooh, sometimes I do like a "mystery beer" - saw this today at the grocery store, can’t really tell from reading the label what it is, and Full Sail was on my mind anyway as they’ve recently shown up here in Ohio. Will it be "wicked awesome" (as the label says), or will it be a dud? Well, kind of in between. Smells like sweet dark sugar maltiness, not much hop aroma. Take a sip - OK, I’m starting to think dunkel - medium thick, raisiny, sweet, somewhat dry finish, but then here comes a sugar coating on my tongue (not fond of that part) . Hey, there’s a little bit of a smokey taste around the edges - I kind of like that! This is a decent Fall brew - drink it after you’ve raked up all of the leaves in your yard! ($5.99 at local Giant Eagle). BeerIndustry98 (14), , California, USA Aug 28, 2008 Poured in pint glass, dark tan in color. Full bodied, thick mouth feel, somewhat gasey. Extremely filling leave one filing more bloated than most other ales. mabel (1662), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 11, 2008 [1500-20080617] 12floz bottle. Sweet raisiny grains aroma. Clear, dark red brown body with a quick creamy light tan head. Grainy sweet toasted malt flavour. Medium body. Average, but I’m giving it an extra point for finishing my 30th page...
