COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Why fly to Munich for a genuine Oktoberfest Lager when this one’s inches from your lips? A smooth, malty lager brewed in the true Bavarian Style, using Two-row Pale, Vienna, Caramel and imported roasted Munich malts, moderately hopped with imported Czech Saaz and Yakima Sterling hops. Flavors reminiscent of honey, nougat and roasted nuts. Complex and beautifully balanced Prost!

Pours a soft and clean orange-ish amber with one or two fingers of fizzy sandy tan head. Nose has a light caramel sweetness on the edges, works well with the herbal hop note and biscuity/bready grain. Flavor is nice, earthy and lightly toasted grain. A touch of malt sweetness makes its way through. Very soft and mellow/mild with full malt flavors and a clean finish. Very very low bitterness and soft finish. Nice

12 oz bottle, one from a sixer from Fred Meyer in Salem. $7.49 (6). Clear handsome copper beer with a nice sized thick and frothy creme coloured head. Good full malty aroma, per style, caramel, hay a little nutty. Good. Malty yet somehow balanced taste..sweet with overlaying bitterness..semi dry finish.. Only thing it tastes more alcoholic than it says it is! Palate is fine..good enough for style. Good beer but not the greatest Okto

Butters (3863) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - SEP 20, 2013
Sampled side by side with several others. Still doesn’t beat out the Sam Adams, but this one actually does a decent job of coming close. Not vegetal like some of the others, except for the slightest hint of cabbage hiding in the nose behind the caramel. Not as sweet or as hoppy as the SA either. A tad smoother though. But a very solid example of the style, and something I would actually drink again.

Nocturne (888) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - SEP 20, 2013
On tap at Horse Brass, PDX. Clear amber shade with some nice foam on top. Hop presence in the arona. Restrained caramel and more hops on the tongue. Everything is so restrained that it’s almost as if it isn’t there. Easy drinking, but flavours aren’t bold enough.

Clear orangey amber with a thin white head. Nose is delightful with some buttery toasted english muffin and a touch of caramel malt. Flavor is crisp and earthy/toasty with a sweet roasted munich malt, with a little grassy bitterness. A bit bitter and dry on the finish.

Pours a clear amber - pretty lively carbonation - fairly malty nose, with quite a bit of toffee/caramelized sugars, a bit of apricot, a light peppery hop note, maybe just a slight burnt note - moderate carbonation - medium body - fairly rich Munich maltiness up front, some toffee, lightly toasty Vienna character - a slight acidity arrives late to balance a bit - the finish brings an odd spiciness (cinnamon) - not sure where that’s coming from, but it lessens the enjoyment and makes the finish a little harsh - some good stuff happening, but the finish derails things a bit.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot), with light notes of dried mango and toffee. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Basically a softer, simpler version of LTD 05. This is my third test-drive of this one, and while it’s not as enjoyable as 05 (this is more syrupy sweet), it’s still a decent entry in the improved LTD line.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Bread crusts, malty, noticeable acidity. I enjoy the malty profile of this beer but the finish is a bit off.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear red pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of biscuit, bread, slight spice, touch of grass. Taste is a mix of caramel, some slight bread, hints of cracker, slight hoppy grass and spice, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter. Decent.

Bottle. Is a well balanced beer with a caramelly aroma with a little hop. Malty flavour, with a hop finish. Honey, roast nuts and a bit of pine.
