Why fly to Munich for a genuine Oktoberfest Lager when this one’s inches from your lips? A smooth, malty lager brewed in the true Bavarian Style, using Two-row Pale, Vienna, Caramel and imported roasted Munich malts, moderately hopped with imported Czech Saaz and Yakima Sterling hops. Flavors reminiscent of honey, nougat and roasted nuts. Complex and beautifully balanced Prost!

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Foco. Pours a clear, deep red orange appearance with a light brown head. Sweet caramel malty, a bit nutty, little roasted, grassy, herbal aroma. Pretty smooth, slightly sweet toasted malty but fairly dry flavor. Light caramel, chewy herbal notes throughout. Better than I was expecting. Pretty good.

had a couple falls ago - somehow got missed. A nice enough bready and herbal Oktoberfest beer, but not one that redefines the style or anything. Medium bodied and slightly dry.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear red pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of biscuit, bread, slight spice, touch of grass. Taste is a mix of caramel, some slight bread, hints of cracker, slight hoppy grass and spice, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter. Decent.

Bottle. Clear brick red body with a short white head. Pleasantly malty aroma that gets close to the character seen in a lot of marzen and amber lager: cookie batter, toasted nuts, breads, toffee, etc., with some apple esters and minimal hop aroma. Some kool-aid powder and cosmetics and maraschino cherry flavoring show up as it opens. Thin body and fizzy with semi-sweet silty allspice and red apple candy flavor. Chalk, vitamins and calcium carbonate and candied cinnamon red hots and wax / crayons. Big Red Soda.

Tallahassee. Fl - Publix Supermarket - Mahan. - 12 oz bottle. Pours a sparkling dark copper, light off-white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma has some light toffee accents, a touch of date-like fruitiness. Flavor has a solid malty character with some raisins, bubble gum, a touch of molasses and a bit of toffee in the back end. Mouthfeel has a nice smoothness to it. Soild Oktoberfest.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot), with light notes of dried mango and toffee. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Basically a softer, simpler version of LTD 05. This is my third test-drive of this one, and while it’s not as enjoyable as 05 (this is more syrupy sweet), it’s still a decent entry in the improved LTD line.

Clear orangey amber with a thin white head. Nose is delightful with some buttery toasted english muffin and a touch of caramel malt. Flavor is crisp and earthy/toasty with a sweet roasted munich malt, with a little grassy bitterness. A bit bitter and dry on the finish.

Bottle:   Amber, on the darker side, large foamy sandy head, nice lacing.   Sweet bready malts with some biscuit character.   Smells clean.   Smooth malty start, caramel malts, bready, some biscuit.   Thankfully not really mealy.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes like it starts, bready, caramel malts, some biscuit, clean, and without much mealiness or cereal notes.   Pretty good example of a Marzen.   Had it been a touch sweeter, a touch hoppier, it would be even better!
