Draft at Toronado. Poured a clear medium orange color with a white head. Smelled of subdued, but distinct, ruby-red grapefruit juice. Light to medium bodied and delicately sweet with mild to moderate hop bitterness. Tasted of mixed citrus (especially grapefruit), fresh cereal grain, and toasted bread. There was also some pleasant toffee that lingered after the finish. Nice.

On tap @ Downtown Johnny Brown’s. Bought this at the same time as Port brewing’s High Tide, not much comparison with the 2. This brew poured a clear medium amber color with lite lacing. Nose of faint herbal hops and earthy undertones. This was a very balanced IPA, guess I’m partial to unbalanced brews from Port and Green Flash, expected a bit more from this brew.

ON tap; pours an amber color with a creamy off white head. Aroma was nicely balanced; caramel, earth, citrus, and flowers. Flavor was definitely dry hopped, which I am not too big a fan of. Very earthy in the flavor; bready malt, not too much caramel flavors. Floral hops in the finish. A bit perfumey. Solid, but expected a bit more.

Had this brew at G.A.B.F. 08". Aroma is a fresh hop scent. Color is gold with fair carbonation and a big thick whip cream like head. Light body goes down easy then the hops come tough with citrus and hay flavors and then a light malt taste. After taste has a light bitterness. Not one of the better IPA’s.

On-tap at Stone. Pours hazy amber with a crisp white head, good lace. Smells earthy hoppy with some mellow caramelly malts. Tastes earthy and a bit resiny hoppy, crisp, cereal malts as well. Decent, tasty brew. Medium body, good carbonation.

Tap @ Johnny Brown’s. Pours clear orange-gold with ashort white head. The metallic and peppery hop aroma characteristic of the English variety of IPA. Bitter, veggie hop taste that was tempered a bit by the sweeter malt. Some citrus and grapefruit came out towards the middle of the pint, but it retained its bitter character. I’m not big on the English IPA, but this was quite enjoyable.

On tap at the Full Sail Brewery in Hood River Oregon. My understanding from the bar tender is that this beer is made during harvest time using a different single hop each time throughout the season. The batch I received was made using Rainier Hops, which were quite drinkable, but not nearly as fresh and exciting as the cascades that were being used in the next week or so. Still a very nice beer.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2008 A growler from the brewery in Hood River. Pours reddish amber with a good-sized white head and lacings. Aroma is floral hops and sweet malts. Taste is big bitter hops with a good amount of sweet malts. Bitterness wins by a large margin. Pretty enjoyable for one glass but a follow-up pour was too much for my taste buds. Website says 5.8% and 70 IBU. Fall Seasonal on tap only.

Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet grassy with notes of grapefruit, and so is the flavor with a dry bitter finish. Great balance - lovely hopping. I was told 215 lbs of Amarillo was used for a 15 bbl. brew.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2009 Tap at Brouwers. 11/12/07

Pours a clear light caramel red with a limited head but impressive lacing. Lovely aroma of candied gummi peach and grapefruit, with a little bit of herbal hop overlaid on top. Juicy fruit flavors, gently sweet in just the right way (i.e. seeming to come from the hops rather than the malts, if that makes sense), rounding into an enjoyable hop bitterness, not heavy, just spot-on balanced. Splendid! 8/4/8/4/16

Tap at Fiddlers’ 9/5/09. Quite a disappointment this time around. Nice leafy aroma, but full of an off flavor like butter-sauteed pear. Oily, somewhat sweet (not burnt-carmelly, just sweet), and absolutely incapable of holding up next to the SN Fresh Hop that I drank along side it. I’d go about 8/4/6/3/13=3.4 though even that might be generous. In any case, I’ll average the two scores.
