3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget in Vacaville, CA. 2008 Reserve. Husky, slightly sweet, chocolate malt aroma with some nuttiness and a little molasses present in the nose as well. Rather aromatic and pleasant. Transparent tawny mahogany body with a frothy, large light tan head. Attractive. Starts a bit metallic with some slight astringency following that. Some husky, grainy, toasted malts are present in the middle. Finishes with a little chocolate and cocoa character. Light, lingering bitterness. A bit thin in terms of the body. Not bad for a relatively boring style.

Draught. Dark brown grizzly bear color. hardly any lacing. Dry, brassy aftertaste. Some chestnut. Not too sweet. Pretty good for a style that often induces sleep.

Aroma is burnt coffee, chocolate.
Appearance is black with a tan head, good lacings.
F-Flavor is dark roast coffee, chocolate malts, some bitterness. Very god for the type.
P- Palate is just slightly thin for the type which helps make it sessionable.
O- Overall a great session brown ale. Donít know how it will age but Iím going to buy at least one to try. Nice brew.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap. Dark brown with decent head. Solid nut brown that offers light chocolate flavors, with a bit of astringent alcohol coming through that is out of place. You can do better, but I wouldnít refuse it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This brown ale pours a deep brown color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing. Aroma is malty, chocolaty and nutty. A medium to lighter bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel and nutty, with a touch of chocolate malt. The hops are earthy and a touch floral. Nicely balanced. It has a nice backbone and is very drinkable. Would probably be a decent session ale, it is kind of a milder tasting brown ale, if that is even imaginable, but there is enough character to keep it drinkable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and a touch dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 22oz bottle. Pours darker brown. Soft toasted malt flavor, honey and caramel with a soft chocolate flavor towards the finish. Hops were balanced but soft, well built to make the malts stand out. Solid brown ale, which is saying a lot since I donít really like many of them.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Dark chocolate aroma. Dark brown color with a three finger beige head. Medium body with fine carbonation; almost chewy. Flavor is lots of chocolate, dark roasted malt, and bitter (probably burnt malt and hop). Finish is dry, and the bitter is persisting. Seems to be really good for a brown ale. Damn near crisp.

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark with a full head with good retention and fluffy lacing. Aromas of nut shells. Full nectar with good carbonation. The texture is soft. Malty and dry roasted with flavors of nut shells, herbs, bubble gum dust, bakers cocoa. Theres a mild hop component that delivers a citrusy bitterness. The finish is bittered well and lasting, dry and snappy. Nice complexities.
