3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark ruby-red with a tan head. Has a weighted body, but it’s relatively easy to drink. Nice balance between dark, sharp roast and sweet, grainy-peaty malt flavors. Some lactic-like sourness and a pinch of bitterness rounds things out well. Subtle flavors and aromas of nuts, caramel, coffee and light spices. Not too shabby, especially for a typically boring style.

Nice caramel nose with some fruitiness and light cocoa. Deep crimson in the light looks brown in the glass. A nice eggshell white head and no lacing. Very creamy mouthfeel. Lots of cocoa chocolate in the flavor, nice toffee presence and a crisp, hoppy finish. This is a lovely beer! Thanks André.

22 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget in Vacaville, CA. 2008 Reserve. Husky, slightly sweet, chocolate malt aroma with some nuttiness and a little molasses present in the nose as well. Rather aromatic and pleasant. Transparent tawny mahogany body with a frothy, large light tan head. Attractive. Starts a bit metallic with some slight astringency following that. Some husky, grainy, toasted malts are present in the middle. Finishes with a little chocolate and cocoa character. Light, lingering bitterness. A bit thin in terms of the body. Not bad for a relatively boring style.

Aroma is burnt coffee, chocolate.
Appearance is black with a tan head, good lacings.
F-Flavor is dark roast coffee, chocolate malts, some bitterness. Very god for the type.
P- Palate is just slightly thin for the type which helps make it sessionable.
O- Overall a great session brown ale. Don’t know how it will age but I’m going to buy at least one to try. Nice brew.
