Hints of vanilla, wood and cocoa. Maple brown, clear and headless. Nutty, unsweetened chocolate taste. Body is dry and thin, not what is expected for a brown ale.

Chuckaduck (640) - Highland Heights, Kentucky, USA - MAY 28, 2013
Bottle. Enjoy by 6/1/13. Consumed 5/28/13. Pours dark brown-black with a thin white head. Aroma is lagery; bread, earth, chocolate, hints of fruit, sweetness. Taste is creamy, chocolate, nutty, vaguely fruity, some bitter chocolate, roast malt; finish is slightly bitter, toasted hazelnut. Mouth feel is chewier than I was expecting; nice. Carbonation is fairly low; mild. No lacing. Tasty and not terrible; there is a hint of macro in here, vague similarities to a Miller. It isn’t overpowering but is a bit disappointing.

Nik925 (749) - California, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Random dark beer with a quickly disappearing head. Aroma is slight and neutral. Heart of the beer is a lingering odd bitterness. Malt is thin but decent. Little to critique, just and ordinary brown. Def. harsh, nothing worth going on about.

jbruner (2298) - Athens, Georgia, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Bottle thanks to scotchzi! Pours a translucent brown with thin tab lacy head that doesn’t really stick. Aroma of typical nut brown, toasted barley, nutty earth, slight toffee and coffee. Taste follows, smooth and pretty solid for what it is.

12oz bottle pours a transparent, mahogany brown with some creamy, lacing white head. Nose is decent, crackers, brown sugar, lightly toasted bread, biscuit, a little toasted almond. Flavor is solid, a little raisin, brown sugar, biscuit, a touch of light coffee, bread crust, chewy grains. Medium bodied, dry, malty finish. Solid brown ale.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark brownish black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of sour fruits, some cardboard, hints of oak, vanilla, red fruit, touch of chocolate powder. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, vanilla, hints of oak, slight cardboard, hints of grass and earth, finishing sweet. Eh.

It’s awfully brown. Weak woody and mineral aroma. Thin, acidic on the palate. A few enjoyable malt notes, nutmeg and brown sugar. Not impressed, but hey, it sure is brown.
