BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA May 22, 2008 A beautiful auburnish brown, with a small off white head that recedes from three fingers to one. Strong toffee nose, with some roasted coffee that follow onto the palate with a sweet creamy mouthfeel, lots of different nuttiness is coming through here, almonds and hazelnuts. Its a bit one dimensional, and not overly impressive, but just enough to keep its head above water, enjoyable enough, but not something I would purchase again. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada May 20, 2008 Clear deep red mahogany. Rich nutty chocolate aroma, very malty nutty chocolate palate, sweet with a moderately bitter dry finish. Really flavourful, delicious. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA May 19, 2008 Pours ddep brown/mahogany with a 1 cm tall tan head. Rich toffee and cookie-dough aroma with nuts. Lovely taste. Malted chocolate, hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, and a little roasted coffee. Kind of like "Chock Full O Nuts" in a beer. Nice. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 18, 2008 Very deep brown with a reddish hue. Hazelnut and malted milk aroma with moderate milk chocolate and some pipe smoke (pretty sure this is my description of every brown ale’s aroma). Softly malty, roasted aroma with some tartness, more nuttiness. Soft carbo, light bitterness and pleasant lingering aftertaste. This a nice one - almost more like a light stout than a brown ale. This isn’t my favorite style, but I’m not sure there’s uch more I could ask for here. RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 18, 2008 Brewmaster reserve 2008. Aroma is a sweet roasted caramel scent. Color is a deep near solid amber with good carbonation and a thick tight head. Taste is bold, rich and roasted. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a smooth feel that has a slight crispness in the end. Finish comes in with a deep roasted flavor that has a sweet caramel taste and a rich feel, all of this is followed by a very light bitterness. After taste leaves you with a nice sour roasty flavor. Not one of my favorite styles but this is a very interesting brew. Its bold and very complex with the sour note on the end making it stand out from other Brown Ales. BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA May 17, 2008 22oz Bottle pours out a dark brown with a touch of red. Topped with a nice off white head. A nice aroma of nut and some sweetness. Tast of malt, nuts, and a touch of chocolate. RedSox2004 (353), Pacific Palisades, California, USA May 11, 2008 Opaque chestnut brown with a pillowy head and nice lacing. Aromas of nutty cocoa with a hint of bread. Flavors included almonds, aforementioned cocoa, and a bit of coffee. Very smooth, medium-bodied and flavorful. I’m getting to really like this brewer. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam May 11, 2008 Tawny body. Slightly tobaccoey, nutty aroma. Full-bodied, nutty, with some chocolate character. Full, sweet finish. Superbly balanced, lots of flavour.
