22oz bottle. Typical brown body, clear, filtered, all that, with a toast colored tan head on top. Very fresh, very full, well attenuated, rich and delicious almonds, vanilla and bread crust, with some chocolate malt and cocoa notes. Some dusty mineral notes in the finish, a bit of mold perhaps, but overall very few complaints. Good brown ales are difficult to find... but I always have been a sucker for the Full Sail house character.

Another decent offering from Full Sail. Most of their beers I’ve had I’ve enjoyed to some degree and this was no different.

The beer pours out a dark chocolately brown color, semi transparent, with a nice three finger thick tan head. The aroma starts out with some sweetness, but I swear I could pick up notes of weak whiskey. It rounds out with some subtle nutty/roasted malt combo which is nice

The flavor is backed up with a solid malt profile. It kinda gets a bit off when it warms up a bit and gets a bit too much like warmed ice tea or used tea bags. But cold to cool and it’s not bad. Not a lot of nutty character in this one, almost like a porter in training.

Slightly transparent redish dark brown, roasted malt, smokey, little chocolate, slighty nutty as well.

Pours deep amber brown with red brilliance through the light. Slight nose of sweet toasted malt with a bit of smoke. The flavor is the same, but there’s a sort of crystal malt sweetness that stands out making it too sweet.

22 oz. bottle from BevMo (Tucson) - Pours a clear brown color with a one and a half finger thick light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is cola, toasted caramel malt, and light chocolate. Flavor is roasted and chocolate malt. Palate is kinda dry and the roastiness lingers a bit. To be honest, I didn’t get much nutiness out of this one. Medium body. A good beer.

05-Aug-08 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 06-May-08 for $3.49 at BevMo in Solana Beach, CA) I always expect good things from Full Sail, especially with the Brewmaster Reserve series, but I seriously underestimated this beer. This is not your basic brown ale with a bit of nuttiness, no, this is big and bold and utterly delicious. The beer pours dark-brown in color and clear with a deep ruddy, translucent glow through the center. The light-tan head build to barely a half-inch in height before settling to a broken film and bubbly ring. The beer’s aroma is evident without even sticking your nose in the glass. Concentrated aroma of nuts leads the way and dark-roasted, smoky malts immediately follow with almost equal intensity, with smoked meats, dark chocolate, dark bread and a bit of ashiness making contributions as well. On the palate, this beer is rich and full-bodied with medium carbonation. Dark-roasted malts, mildly sweet chocolate, earth, blackened toast, all hit the entry running, finishing dry and almost tannic, with bitter roast, ash, smoke and a hint of sourness. What a joy to drink. Easily one of the better nut browns I’ve run across. Don’t underestimate this impressive beer, it’s worthy of the Reserve designation.

Pours a very dark brown pushing black with a robust head. Way too much burnt coffee and chocolate, not nearly enough nutty malt. What a mess.

Hands down the best Nut Brown Ale I’ve ever tried. Sick and tired of "nut" ales that are flavorless and watered down. This ale has flavors of amaretto, almond, roasted pecan, caramel, and chocolate. Also smooth as can be. On draft at the Full Sail Brewery in Hood River, OR. Nice 4 oz sample. I brought a bottle home all the way to Tampa!

22oz bottle-A dark brown body with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, toffee, alcohol, and a little roasted malt. Taste of nothing until the back end which kicks up some roasted malt. A very thin beer with not much flavor. Was expecting a lot more.

22 oz bottle in pint glass. Pours a dark brown, wtih a thin ivory head. No lacing. Aroma of chocolate. Flavor is almost Imperial Stout in nature...high malt, chocolate, and alcohol...some nuttiness as well. Trust me, this one has far more alcohol in the flavor than the ABV would suggest. Palate is spritzy on the toungue, and finishes a bit watery. Palate becomes progressively smoother as it warms. Overall an interesting Brown Ale, but I’m not sure its one of my favs.
