pours a dark brown with finger of grey head. Nutty aroma, hazelnut, soft milk. Flavor is hazelnut, creamy feel, medium bodied, light bitter roast on the finish, soft cocoa. Pretty nice brown ale I think.

Lovely crystal brown with a near complete tan sheet. Smells of nuts, cocoa, roasted malts, a hint of low impact, earthy hops and just a hint of cinnamon. Taste is bitter, slightly sweet, roasty, toasty and maybe a little astringent. There’s something a little off in the flavor. Medium bodied with fine, velvet carb and an off dry finish. Decent.

A delicious, thick-bodied brown ale. Resembles a stout. Nice, chocolately flavor. Smooth. A great, refreshing drink!

Bottle. Hazy brown pour with a finger of head. Oak, whiskey, brown sauce, soy sauce, chocolate. Water-like and light initially with sugar and carbonation towards the middle with water and bitterness at the finish. Good

Decent example of the style. Firm malt back bone and enough hops to balance the sweetness. I prefer Full Sail Amber, but I decided to try this after seeing it offered for the first time at Trader Joe’s in San Fran. Will try their ESB on the next trip to TJ’s. Looking forward to a visit to the ’mother ship’ brewery in Hood River, OR - maybe later this summer? I’m sure that’s where they keep ’the good stuff’.....

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hints of vanilla, wood and cocoa. Maple brown, clear and headless. Nutty, unsweetened chocolate taste. Body is dry and thin, not what is expected for a brown ale.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Enjoy by 6/1/13. Consumed 5/28/13. Pours dark brown-black with a thin white head. Aroma is lagery; bread, earth, chocolate, hints of fruit, sweetness. Taste is creamy, chocolate, nutty, vaguely fruity, some bitter chocolate, roast malt; finish is slightly bitter, toasted hazelnut. Mouth feel is chewier than I was expecting; nice. Carbonation is fairly low; mild. No lacing. Tasty and not terrible; there is a hint of macro in here, vague similarities to a Miller. It isn’t overpowering but is a bit disappointing.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Random dark beer with a quickly disappearing head. Aroma is slight and neutral. Heart of the beer is a lingering odd bitterness. Malt is thin but decent. Little to critique, just and ordinary brown. Def. harsh, nothing worth going on about.
