COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deliciously rich barleywine that has spectacular depth and delicacy of flavor that is deep and robust. Its strong, sweet body is balanced with Centennial and Crystal hops for a pleasant hoppiness and finish. Makes a great cellar beer. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught year round. ABV 9% IBU 91

Mmmhh, this Barley wine is sheer lunacy. Apple and cinnamon, very fruity flavorsome. Nice creamy layer of a head on this warm amber nepenthe stroked by soft bubbles. Apples and grapes are alternate in the taste, spicey - peppery with cinnamon tones and also malt. Medium bitter finish. Smooth and silky with a lingering taste accompanied by soft undertones of acohol this slides down my throat and my brain get's torpedoed with the song of "you want more, you want more!" It warms your stomach right away, well balanced though complex. Thanks a lot ecrivich!

02 Bottle.Hoppy, fruity strawberry, peach aroma.Dark bronze appearance.Sour, bitter fruity, flavors of mellons, peaches and berries.More smooth and fruity than bitter as opposed to most North-west barly wines.

VERY ROBUST!!! Very fruity and chocolate? malts present in the flavor. Can't quite put my finger on it all, but this has a lot going on. Aroma of roasted nuts and malts. Smooth and good.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2007 [have had many vintages since, none of which have matched up to the first I had - still really tasty stuff, though] Vintage 1999. Holy crap! I’m in f--kin’ love! This is like Hair of the Dog Fred, but superior in most respects. Burnt orange color, cloudy appearance. Malty sweetness. Roasty notes. Plums, figs, cherries in the finish. Prostrate yourselves and bow down! Aged to near perfection. A great barleywine! Thanks a million brewbandit!

2002 batch: Great balance of sweet malty flavor and brisk hoppiness. Orange tangy finish. Light in color and head. All around another great Full Sail brew.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2004 Whoa, kicked my ass! 2002 batch. Great sweet taste with a hoppy finish at the end. Drank the bottle and was light headed, found that drinking the bottle in less than 30 minutes will get you that way. Thanks to ervich for the trade to allow me to try this bottle.

Vintage 1999 on tap at the 2003 Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival. Light orange colr with beige lace ring around the glass. Lots of caramel sweetness in the nose but with a surprising balance of hop. Incredibly smooth mouthfeel and lots of buttery caramel flavors. Well balance and a damn good barley wine.

A nice medium bodied brew. Floral and citrus notes from the hopsand a maltiness to balance the 90 IBU bitterness level.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2003 I just drank a bottle of the 2002 batch, and compared with the following rating of the '00, I was (surprisingly) a bit more impressed with the young bottle - less astringent, and a more overt maltiness covered up the alchohol a little better: much more flowery, and a whole load of flavors came through in the malt I didn't find before. 2000 (3.6) - I was a bit disappointed really. VERY modest barley wine: mildy sweet vanilla/chocolatey malt, slightly bitter, with a ton of astringent flavor. The astringent alchohol kind of turned my nose a bit, although I do think it was insationally smooth towards the end of the glass.

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2006 99 Edition: Cloudy yellowish orange in color. Very fruity flavor, sort of reminds me of orange juice and plums? Its a wonderful blend what ever it is. It is sticky sweet. By a fire, after a great day of skiing this would be an excellent choice.
