On tap at O’briens. Hard to say much to this when sampled right next to a Pliny. Spicy malt and nuts make up the base, with a pretty weak hops aroma. Almost smells a little burnt. Mild lemon tones in the flavor with a medium bitterness on the end. Refreshing finish that leaves a light and crisp pine character.

Loved the rusty-orange color, and the foamy head was nice, too. Crispy and sharp texture. Malts were grainy, bready and cracker-like. Missed out on some sweetness. Hops were snappy and full of bitter grass, earthy flowers and lemon zest. Overall, I thought it had some nice things going on, but I felt it was a bit rough around the edges and had a scouring harshness to it.

Bomber poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting light amber head. Aromas of passion fruit, earthiness, light pine and light carmel. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of earthiness, passion fruit, light pine and a hint of carmel with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.

Bottle… Clear golden ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Excellent, wispy retention. Spicy, herbal hops along with notes of black tea, toffee and brown sugar add up to a very appealing nose. Full-bodied and chewy with prickly carbonation. Medium to heavy bitterness is the backbone for the toffee and biscuit malt undertones. Bitterness with a purpose. Moderate tartness. Lengthy, bitter, mildly acidic finish.

I’m not really one for the English IPA. Pours clear copper with a short white head. Metallic, peppery hop aroma with earthy, caramel malt. Taste is astringent, like an over-hopped ESB. Bready and metallic with the dry-hopping.

clear body. pale copper color with a one inch tall off white head. good retention and lacing. juicy citrus aroma with some caramel-y malt, pepper, earth, wood and a bit of dry grass. there’s a bitterness that carries throughout the flavor... twiggy, generic hops, light pine, citrus pith, floral hops and malty grain (but not sweet). hoppy, dry, moderately bitter finish. medium body. mellow mouth feel is a bit parching. extra points for the dry palate but it’s still generic.

7-3-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to stefanje
Glowing orange with a nice head and okay lacing. Smell is really subtle hops and flowers. Flavor is nice fruity hops but is light and not over the top by any means. A simple and subtle IPA that drinks quite easily. Nice palate. Overall, pretty good.

Pours orange copper color w/ a solid head that lingers to a fluffy spattered lace. Aromas of strict citrus rind amidst a kitchen full of grandmas biscuits. Medium nectar w/ superb carbonation creating an exspanive almost creamy texture. Strict hopsy citrus rind rule the street here. A mild malt profile takes the backseat to an abusive hop component that finishes very bitter w/ a touch of biscuit essence.
