Session Black is short, dark and totally drinkable. The initial tastes are a subtle pairing of caramel and chocolate malt flavors with precise hopping to provide an elegant citrus background to the delicate finish of dark cocoa.

Poured from the stubby bottle into a tulip glass. Very dark, but not black. Held up to the light there are some red hues. A nice 1 inch thick head formed. Eventually it went down to just barely covering the surface. Fairly aromatic for a lager. The dark malt is most evident with a slight hint of dry hay. Mmm. A lager with some dark malt flavor. However, the malt does not turn this beer into a sweet tasting beer like many other Schwarzbiers. For that, I really like this. The taste is a straight forward lager with the added bit of dark maltiness and a slight bitterness at the end. Light and moderately carbonated. All day long. It is a "Session" beer after-all. Those who appreciated a little more flavor in their lagers will enjoy this even more.

Dark brown pour with small off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, slight citrus and faint hops. Taste of roasted malts, faint chocolate, cocoa, faint hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, very drinkable, perfectly balanced, all around a very good beer.

Tap at Full Sail in Hood River, as Full Sail Session Black Premium Dark Lager. Small sweetish roasty nose. Medium translucent brown (not so dark). Toasty malt, licorice, candy, chocolate, light caramel, and root beer. Thin-medium body. Maybe a bit too sweet, and too sessionable?

A: Nearly opaque brown. Half inch creme colored head. N: Biscuit, cocoa, char, straw, brown sugar, and a touch of Earth and pine. T: Good sweetness. Some bitterness. Both developed to be easily drank. M: Light and a touch oily. O: Nice beer for a sunny afternoon while waiting for football. Won’t take too much of your attention, but that’s by design.

Bottle. Aromas of a traditional lager but pours a nice shade of dark. The taste is great. Sparkly but subdued hops hit up front and then a wash of cocoa, with a delicate coffee taste. The flavor is immense and the body is nice and light. Very awesome and easy drinking.

Nice pour limited head.smooth but nice taste of burnt roast hops. Nothing great but a nice reasonably priced dark beer. Not a bad choice

Always good for the price. This is a much more serious beer than its "Red" brother. Very Drinkable

Stubby bottle: Pours clear, deep brown-ruby with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma of cola, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate.. Taste is powdery chocolate/cocoa...caramel malt. Not bad , but a little on the sweet side.

A- Pours a ruddy brown hue with a small, fizzy, off white head that leaves no lacing. S- roasty, coffee, malt powder, milk chocolate. T- Lightly roasty, toffee, burnt toast, light hop bitterness, finished off by a prolonged roasted malt flavor. M- Medium/thin with medium carbonation. D- Easy drinker, not the most complex beer but very drinkable and enjoyable.
