3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Davhgbrew (445) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - JAN 25, 2013As the name implies, this brew would be great for a drinkin’ session! Very smooth, buttery like feel on the tongue with very moderate carbonation. What I like most about this beer is how balanced it seems to be. Not too sweet and malty but with just the right amount of hoppiness with a crisp clean lager like bite. Very nice drinkable brew!
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kevinator (324) - The Colony, Texas, USA - MAY 23, 2013
This wasn’t bad. It had a musty roasted aroma. Pours pretty dark with a medium head that went away quick. Average palate and carbonation. Roasted malts also had a sense of oak and smokiness. This had a strong German feel to it. Not much of a hops presence. Very drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BroSpud (1359) - , Massachusetts, USA - MAY 21, 2013
11oz stubby shaped bottle. Pours a dark ruby brown with just a bit of a tan head that settles away quickly. Malty aroma. Caramel and chocolate flavors with very little hops. Not the most exciting thing around but decent overall.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a medium sized foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was cola, wood and a bit of roasty malts. The flavor was dry and woody with light notes of cola and roasty malts. Long woody finish. Medium body. Eh.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nejhleader (1057) - Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Has a nice mild toasty malt aroma. Bit of a creamy body. Roasted malts pretty much sums up the taste.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 finn1918 (145) - Georgia, USA - MAY 13, 2013
Had straight from the bottle at a party. Looks black with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, and caramel. Taste is the same. Medium bitter finish. I thought for sure this was a schwarzbier, not a dunkel. Simple, cheap, and very sessionable as the name suggests; a good buy for the money.
3.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jules59 (1) - Butler, New Jersey, USA - MAY 9, 2013 does not count
Poured into a lager glass. Appearance is cola like with ruby tinge. Smells of roasted malts, caramel and very light cocoa. The taste is where I was hooked, delicious but light tastiness with hints of caramel with some light hopping at the end, very light mouth feel crisp and refreshing. Yum, easy going down to the point of being dangerous. If your in the mood for a very easy drinking lightly flavored brew then then this is for you. Great everyday drinker !
3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Artichoke (17) - California, USA - APR 29, 2013
Less than one finger head. Nice caramel malts with a hint of bitterness. Great bite on the finish, nothing lingers leaves you wanting another session
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 fluffy (800) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - APR 21, 2013
while its nothing to write home about, its certainly better than regular Session, darker malts, creamier albeit somewhat oilier palate. quite nice really. bottle shape sells it for sessioning of course,

Bottle: brown pour with medium, quickly fading tan head. Aroma is mild with roast grain, cocoa, and toffee. Flavor is chocolatey with some roast grain and malt. Nice flavor, very easy to drink, I will buy more.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (6950) - Straßgiech, Bavaria, GERMANY - APR 13, 2013
UPDATED: APR 16, 2013 bottle. clear dark chestnut brown body with a small to medium-sized tan head, some retention, some lacing. rich dark malt expression in the nose (milk and dark chocolates, coffee grounds with lighter touches of munich/ vienna/caramel ). yeast supplies a light sulfur/egg and mineral character; aroma hops low and pleasant. creamy and full dark malt presence, somewhat starchy, but for the most part the chewy and filling malt is right on. finish is moderately starchy / crunchy but also pleasantly dry. so, I’ve had this about a dozen times in the past, but not in the last few months. after reading a recent interview with the brewer about his Czech-focus for these lagers, I had to find a fresh batch and try again, and I think I found one of the better batches since this beer was first released. Some of the older ones had been overly-metallic and the carbonation + malt ruined the texture, so I’m happy to see both a firm crispness and dryness along with a creamy. I reviewed this in the most unforgiving glass I have, which says a lot to me. good stuff.
