3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours clear coppery amber with a thick and rather persistent pale buff head. Aroma delivers a strong note of resiny and slightly woody hops, as well as orange and grapefruit notes. Bold flavor ramps up these tones and adds more wood, as well as notes of malt and pear. Finish has just a hint of spice, while body is firm and smooth yet fizzy and lively. Slip one down your throat - you will knot regret it.

Gold. White head. Drinks like a mild beer with medium light body and full bitterness. Not really an imperial.

Bottle from Winco. Dark golden body with small creamy off white head. Malt features prominently in aroma, and provides a nice platform for the citrusy hops in the taste. Funky, tart bitterness hits the taste buds and lingers through to the finish. Not a huge IIPA, but has a nice kick.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Juicy tropical fruit hop aroma with notes of pineapple as well as some grapefruit and floral hops. Pours clear golden colored with a thin but retentive white head that has some lacing. Starts with juicy tropical fruit flavors with pineapple and grapefruit notes. Finishes slightly dry with citric acidity and slight bitterness from the floral hops. Very nice IPA.

Pours a finger and a half of head on a clear straw body.
The aroma is ripe lemon, grapefruit, and a bit of pineapple.
The taste is moderate pine and grapefruit bitterness. Good balance.
The texture is crisp.
It’s a solid IPA.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out some sharp piney hops, some stone fruits and biscuity malt. Flavour is similar and quite sharp, with piney hops, biscuity malt and a touch of fruitiness. Fairly dry, astringent and somewhat metallic on the finish. Not the cleanest and well-crafted, but it works.

a solid drinkable beer, but doesn’t stand a chance against the big boys. doesn’t do anything wrong, just doesn’t do enough right. solid pine/citrus aroma and flavor, just not strong enough."

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Originally reviewed: 5/9/09. Pours a clear dark orange with moderate bubbles rising through. Great frothy white head on top that retains very well. Some spotty lacing, very little though. Smells of pineapple, candy, bananas, and cherry malt. Interesting for a Imp. IPA.
Mouthfeel is firm and crisp. Slight wetness on the back end, but drinkable enough. Now the flavor, this I can’t figure out. It tastes like an Imperial Cherry cough syrup. This is really sweet and cloying. Tons of sweet fruit all over this. Finishes bitter, but the sweetness just overpowers this beer. This is really strange. The hops are there, but this is severely unbalanced. Not sure about this beer. Approach with hesitancy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from a while ago. Good smell, plenty of hops here with a light alcohol presence. Taste is hoppy and kind of sweet, easy to drink with a good citrus flavor. Not bad, but in the huge world of Double IPA’s, it does little to stand out.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
NOTE: the bottle I am rating is a cellared 2009 vintage of this beer, so adjust for aging accordingly!
Flavor has concentrated considerably with age. I drank another bottle of this when it was fresh, and I recall it being super in-your-face resiny & bitter, almost undrinkably so. I’m a hops fiend and I could barely finish it.
Woody dry finish, thick caramelly, almost bourbony malt profile. Tastes more like a 9% barleywine than a IIPA. Definitely worth cellaring vs drinking fresh.
