3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22-oz bottle. Pours hazy amber with an average, rocky, off-white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, meal), heavy hops (candied fruit, flowers, pine, resin), average yeast (sweat, dough) with notes of peach, pear, and apricot. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Dark golden coloured. Uncelar. Fluffy beige head. Herbal and flowery aroma with distinct piney notes. Flavour is heavily hoppy. Herbs and fruits with light citrusy notes. Caramel notable. Medium to full bodied. Is quite balanced. Nice heavy bitterness in the end countered by a light sweetness. Thx. Papsoe for sharing.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle… Clear amber ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Decent retention. Earthy tomahawk (?) and simcoe hop nose with a whisper of caramalt. Full-bodied and silky with reserved carbonation. Moderate, fruity sweetness (fuzzy and tropical); medium to heavy, earthy, citrus bitterness. Lengthy, tannic, bitter finish. A shout goes out to mgumby10 for popping the top on this one!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy golden with a medium sized off white head. Aroma had tangerine, grapefruits, hops and peach. Flavor was very dry with plenty of hops that gave notes of tangerine, peach, grapefruit, pine and lemons. finished bone dry and very bitter. I liked it for it’s very exotic fruitiness and cause it was dry and bitter. Nice one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden beer with a slight haziness about it. Very thick and sticky white head. Very fresh grapefruity, cascady aroma, light bready/yeasty smells as well. There is also a hint of spiciness to the hopping as well. Flavour is well balanced, fresh hops (grapefruit/spice) with a bit of resiny pine flavour as well. Some fruitiness is also noticible, especially orange, peach, and papaya. As it warms, the clean spicy/piny hops become more prominent. Long, piny finish with just enough pale malt backing it up. Tasty brew.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught Very clear copper; no head. Grapey, dry hoparoma’s, some slight milky/lactic hints. Bitter starting, but malt-mellowing taste. Sweeter maltbacking doesn’t prevent it from appearing a lot watery, however. As indicated, a bit thinnish with pretty little body. Hop oils and ditto slickness, running into the aftertaste, of course. If this is an Imperial, the empire is running out.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Clear and bright rusty orange color, with a medium sized typical tan head. Toasted hoppy nuts, oranges and sweet yeast in the aroma. Watery for the first second on the lips, then a little aggressive hop flavor, turning to a thick and creamy texture before a dry chinook-like finish. Flavors are all hops: bark-like woody and leafy hop flavors, some sharp, stinging roasted pine hop notes. Interesting brew, but just not hitting the button for me.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
My Bottom Line:
Orangey fruitiness and wooden hoppiness merge into the caramel crackers offered by the sturdy maltiness. A drinkable Double IPA from Full Sail which still surprised because of its overall timidity and lack of brightness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the transparent light golden.
-Some hay is suggested by the malts.
-The nose was rather tame for a Double IPA.
-Wooden hop resins bring flavor, bitterness and dryness.
-A flavorful drink no doubt, but one has come to expect much better from Full Sail.
Bottle; 2007 vintage. Thx Paul, Jon & Rich!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, shared wih Parksy. Pours a cloudy honey gold with a brief golden head. Aroma is reedy maltiness and resinous vegetal hops. Flavour is hoppy, but somewhat soapy rather than citric or resinous. Not as smooth as I’d like. The hop character just doesn’t satisfy as much as I’d hoped. Decent, but one was enough.
