Continuing our summer sun series, Spotless is named to honor our sun that has been spotless for over a year. This aggressive IPA has a rich golden color with a fruity finish. The beer is well hopped to 70 with Willamette and Zeus hops, lending the beer a bright bitterness and a rich hop flavor. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 6.5% IBU 70

Bottle. Not sure of the freshness here, as my label says 2010. Hmmmm. Anyway, it pours out a hazy fairly bright orange with a medium off white head. No lace. Aroma is more malty than hoppy, sweet cereal, earthy veggie hop nuances. Not very appealing. The palate shows similar structure in that it features sweet cereal malts more prominently than aromatic hops. There is a lot of bitterness in here, but not much to elevate the palate. The hop character is more medicinal and astringent than anything. Not that great.

Pours dark golden with a nice beige head and a floral fruit aroma. There is a substantial caramel malt base that starts sweet and is quickly overcome with dry hop bitterness. It works pretty well.

Bottle. Amber beer witha cream colored head. Grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit, pine, and light earthy flavor. Medium bodied. Nice bitterness. Pine and grapefruit lingers with light tropical fruit and light earth.

Bottle: Pours a transparent amber bronze with a stringy-lacing froth of khaki head. Has a sweet lightly toasted caramel and pale malty nose with some fresh resiny grapefruity hoppy notes. Starts with pretty good fullness and sweet light doughy malty flavor with a fresh piny hoppy balance before a clean bittersweet finish. A fresh and very drinkable IPA.

22. Pours crystal clear bright burnished coppery amber. Dense fluffy white head that sticks around for a while, if not forever. Mild orange peel nose with toast and caramel mixed in. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast, caramel, and oranges again on the mid palate. Mild resiny finish. Not very creative or lively, but well made and flavorful enough. Decently refreshing.

Bottle:   Clear golden, moderate frothy white head, sparce lacing, light carbonation.   Astringent nose of hops and caustic biscuit maltiness.   Full Sail seems to have the same aroma for mos of their IPAs, and it never sits well with me.   Acrid hops and the aformentioned caustic biscuit like malt flavor.   The bitterness from this beer doesn’t come from the hops.   Seems grainy in a medicinal or chemical cleaner sense.   Don’t get me wrong, its not awful, but its not on my list of ever planning to drink again.   Also seems more of a Pale than an IPA, or at least 3/4 IPA.   Meh...

Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 22 oz bomber. Pours a slightly murky medium orange with a medium thick sticky white head. Aroma is fresh and floral with hints of spruce. Flavor has a nice subtle bitterness to it with some white grape accents, a brief bit of citrusy goodness and some back end nuttiness. Mouthfeel is crisp, but not quite as thick and chewy as I would expect a Full Sail IPA to be.

Sledutah (6044) - Utah, USA - JUL 22, 2010
22oz bottle from the state wine store
Appearance: Pours a crystal clear golden with a medium sized white head and good lacing left in the glass
Aroma: Bready, piney and sweet
Taste: Biscuity, earthy with a bitter pine finish. Leaves a lingering medicinal coating in my mouth
A decent beer, bitter but sweet at the same time. Different.
