3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 LtDan (1502) - Los Angeles County, USA - MAY 26, 2010
Appearance: Pours a bright clear copper amber with a frothy tan film of foam.
Aroma: Big grassy hops and slight lemon and catty notes as well.
Taste: That signature metallic bitter taste from Full Sail, I believe it to be the yeast, grassy hops, a little bit of honey like malt and a tad bit of citrus. Finishes very bitter.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and fairly carbonated.
Overall: It’s big, it’s bitter, but it’s not my favorite varieties of hops. I’d love to hear the locals weigh in on this beer.

Hazed orange-amber with a medium tan head. Aroma of orange, citrus, grains, orange rind, pale malt and mild sulfur. Taste is tropical with orange, citrus, grapefruit, caramel and mild floral hops. Moderate lasting bitterness.

Bottle. Not sure of the freshness here, as my label says 2010. Hmmmm. Anyway, it pours out a hazy fairly bright orange with a medium off white head. No lace. Aroma is more malty than hoppy, sweet cereal, earthy veggie hop nuances. Not very appealing. The palate shows similar structure in that it features sweet cereal malts more prominently than aromatic hops. There is a lot of bitterness in here, but not much to elevate the palate. The hop character is more medicinal and astringent than anything. Not that great.

bottle at azwine 10/27/10.
orange gold color with a small white head.
the aroma is earthy... kinda woody/dirty in the hop department along with orange, grass, florals and some vanilla?.
the flavor is the same but sweeter than ideal with a bitterish finish. meh. 6/3/6/3/3.1

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma of toasted malt, floral hops. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, bitter hops, spicy hops, and less toastiness. Good IPA, but I think I prefer some of their other IPAs (Elevation and Hop Pursuit).

Bottle. Bright orange, white head. Nose is subtle grass-pine hops. Flavor is crisp grainy malts and citrus hops. Watery texture with slight hop slickness. An average IPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (3114) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JAN 26, 2011
Bomber from Hop City, Atlanta. I’ve never been the biggest fan of Full Sail’s IPAs. They’ve always struck me as competent but slightly deficient in character and complexity. This one, however, I kind of dug. Modest hazy gold pour, with a medium, creamy head. Nose was far less "aggressive" than the commerical description suggested. Clean, fruity, and dry, almost like a nice pils. Medium dry mouthfeel enhanced that impression. Flavor was more conventionally IPA-ish in its hop profile, but it still had something of the earthy bitterness in the finish that faintly recalled Stone 14.

Deep orange pour with a white head. Aroma of citrus peel, resin, honey and caramel malt. Flavor is nicely balanced between the sweet malt and bitter hoppy notes. Good.

Bottle:   Clear golden, moderate frothy white head, sparce lacing, light carbonation.   Astringent nose of hops and caustic biscuit maltiness.   Full Sail seems to have the same aroma for mos of their IPAs, and it never sits well with me.   Acrid hops and the aformentioned caustic biscuit like malt flavor.   The bitterness from this beer doesn’t come from the hops.   Seems grainy in a medicinal or chemical cleaner sense.   Don’t get me wrong, its not awful, but its not on my list of ever planning to drink again.   Also seems more of a Pale than an IPA, or at least 3/4 IPA.   Meh...
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Strykzone (3133) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2010
Thanks to Hayduke for this one. Shared via Facebook chat with Ron’s brother Rick. Pour is hazy effervescent golden brown. A small white head. Aroma is soft with tart hops and a hint of spice. Flavor begins with pink grapefruit which is a new taste for me. VERY bitter on the front. After a bit of warming that subsided somewhat and some tangerine and other citrus fruit showed. There was very little sweetness, especially at first. The tangerine helped but balance was never achieved. There was a unique hop mixture used which made for a fun beer to sample.
