COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Switchback Ale is an American red ale brewed to celebrate spring and the promise of warmer sunnier days to come. It has a rich red color with a pleasing sweet caramel flavor that comes from four specialty malt varieties. This medium bodied ale is hopped with Cascade hops that have a wonderful fruity character which balance the malt sweetness and give the beer a subtle citrus aroma and flavor. Switchback Ale is extremely smooth and easy drinking.

Medium to dark copper. Smokey corn aroma. Taste is a bit sour, of stale malts and maple syrup. Can't say much more, just not enjoyable.

"good flavors, malt and cascade hops, but it came out a little thin. not quite boring, but not very exciting either. i’d drink it again, but wouldn’t go out of my way for it."

Dark red color with an off white head that soon diminishes. An aroma of cookies are apparent. Medium bodied dry in texture with malt flavors and a long lasting bitter finish.

This has a dark caramel color and small creamy head; aromas of toasty bread, and a hint of lemon; the flavor is uninspired and weak. Next...

Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, caramel), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, metallic. Very watery, very citric, very yaaawwwwnnnn...zzzzzzzz.

Tap@The Pilsner Room, Portland. Shouldn’t have had this after the Imperial Porter, because i couldn’t taste much. A fairly bland red, sweet, with the standard toffee and nuts, some tangy hops.

A bit different than the average Red ale. A very wierd finish. A bit of a woody flavor. Just weird. A slight hoppy finish. I won’t buy this again

Not really a great summer/spring brew. Pours average, and stays there throughout. Suffers from wateriness and lack of balance from start to finish. Better than the mass market stuff but not by a lot.
