Not great for an imperial porter, but certainly big with a nice roastiness, and you can’t complain about the price.

-Update 09/07/07 22oz bottle poured into a 10oz Samuel Smith nonic glass. The taste was really good with coffee and roast flavors coming out. Not sure why it is so much better four months later, aging perhaps? I plan on aging the other three bottles to see what happens. Yum. 22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. The color was black with a tan head that was quite fluffy. The taste was a little like milk chocolate but faint. The alcohol was undetectable. The body was a little thin. Overall I did not care much for this beer. I will still give the Full Sail Brewmaster’s Reserve a fair shake since Wreck The Halls was so good. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-07-2007 17:21:11

2009 vintage thanks to the big bad douglas88. The pour gives you a nice brown head to add a little bit of creamy texture to your initial experience. Toffee like aroma with a little bit of bittersweet chocolate in there. Flavor is mostly chocolate and cocoa with a little bit of bitterness on the back end. A faint, very faint touch of alcohol. A little thin for an impy porter and would love a little more body but this still goes down smooth and is very drinkable.

Deep black, opaque. Tan head. Malty aroma with some sweentess resembling Whoppers malted candies. Palate is a big malt whallop with some candied sugars and alcohol warmth. Very hearty beer. Finish is long and malty sweet with plenty of hops to balance it out. Very syrupy, in a good way.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Borefts 10am day after hotel tasting.
Almost black with a pillowy beige head. Lactic and milky, lots of chewy malt, yet somehow dry and hoppy. A good blend of bitter and sweet. Just that little bit different enough to make it interesting.

’09 bottle. Poured black with a moderate beige head. Aroma is distinctively mocha like. Flavor is more chocolate and coffee, smoke, toast, a bit of acidicness, and a little hop bittering on the end. The finish also has an alcohol warmth, and I found that after it lingered a while there was a touch of grassiness to the hops. Has a nice full mouthfeel.
