COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This year, Full Sail brewers decided to don the Blendmaster hat and create a concoction from two of their favorite beers: Wassail and Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter. This mélange contains 35% Imperial Porter aged for nine months in Makers Mark casks, and 65% freshly filtered Wassail. The nose is Wassail’s green hop perfume washed with oak and hints of Bourbon, while the palate is full-bodied with elements of dark fruit, espresso and caramel, all finished with a long clean hoppy bitterness.

Holiday Ale Festival. This beer never sat right with me, the blend between big hops and bourbony roasted porter just clashed. Cloudy murky brown color, thin beige head. The Wassail behind was big and floral, hops piney and lemony, with a lemon cleaner note. The Porter rich and bourbony, chocolate roasted malts up front. Each fine in their own parts, but together it felt like a mess. The whole time I was pining for the lone Porter.

After just drinking an English Strong Ale it is nice to taste the difference with this American Strong Ale. Great aroma, fresh taste. This beer has a strong back and it carries that alcohol well.

Nose has notes of bourbon and roast, big floral hop presence along with an earthy mustiness that i couldnt pinpoint, but apparently others tasted it too. Pours dark reddish brown, nice creamy head and some lace. The flavor has notes of bourbon, a good amount of hoppiness, roasted malts mixed with caramel, toffee, and some dark fruit. Hoppy, oak barrel finish. Interesting blend, somewhat weird.

On tap at the Portland Holiday Ale Festival. Colour... very dark and a thin head. Nose... kind of a musty weirdness that I can’t pinpoint. Palate... kind of sour, frothy, tangy, then sweet on the back palate with a hint of booze and Cowtails candy.

Holiday Ale Fest... Poured deep brown with a tan head. Alcohol and dark malts on the nose. Lightly carbonated with vanilla, cocoa, and oak flavors. Milky, and ice cream-like flavors with earthy vegetables (almost like cabbage), and toffee with a dry finish.
