pours a dark brown with a ruby tint, small tan head that dissipates quickly, good lacing. smell is faint, but after i get my nose down in there i can smell dark fruits, malts, brown sugar and spice in the background. taste is slightly tangy on the tongue, sweet and tart, some fruit, spice and caramel. this one is a really good beer for winter.

Bottle. Moderate malt notes of toasted dark bread, light to moderate herbs and resin, faint dough for the yeast, with hints of raisin and dried cherry and faint spices. Head is small, fizzy, light tan, with no lacing but good legs. Color is dark mahogany. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with livley carbonation and finishes lightly alcoholic. A nice winter warmer and a good representation of as Strong English Ale.

From the bottle, pours dark red with a thick off white foamy head. Average weaker aroma, taste is not overly spiced or overly anything. Very dry at the end. Caramel malty, good overall.

The aroma i fruit, spices, roast. The appearance is a deep amber color, off-white head. The flavor is much more roasty than the aroma, some toasted malts, spices. Roasty, spicy on the finish. Good.

Poured a nice dark brown color with a thin off-white head. Aroma has lots of caramel and some sweetness. A touch of bread as well. Taste is big and creamy with lots of caramel. Intresting grain flavors with some biscuit. Finish has a touch of alcohol and more caramel. Some chocolate too at the end. Overall very nice.

The Wassail is a very dark brown with tan head when aggressively poured and sticky lacing. At first I thought it might be a bock but it’s too thick and roasty for that. Chocolate malt aroma with a hint of alcohol. Medium sweetness out front and a nice balancing dry bitterness. Heavy bodied and cloying, though the hop flush prevent it from bogging down. Wish it was year ’round.

(From notes) 2009 edition, had this in California by the end of 2009. Pours a deep brown color with a rocky off white head. Aroma: roasted malt, aromatic fresh hops, hints of caramel. Flavor is toasted, lightly sweet & bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes prickly, with a firm bitterness and hints of roast.

Bottle at a winter beer tasting in Tel Aviv. Dark brown and almost opaque. Cranberry, bruit and malt nose, bitter, a little medicinal mouth, feels smooth and sticky, long finish, full body.

9 jan 2012, bottle. Dark brown with thick rocky head. Burnt chocolate malt with some light grassy hops and prominent alcohol. Med body and a bit fizzy. Pretty decent. Very malty, chocolate that dries the mouth. Not much else but pretty nice.
