(Tap). Nice very dark brown. Nice feeling on the palate. Has mild chocolate taste without feeling too much like coffee. Very enjoyable brew, hope to have another soon.

Nice dark brown color with slightly brown head that lasts a while. Aroma is strong, hints of coffee and spices. The flavor is initally welcoming and pleasant. Taste lingers for a while with typical West Coast heavy hops. Still a strong tasting beer that delievers a clean, chrisp, and enjoyable experience.

(Bottle) Pours a medium, frothy, almond head and a near opaque, read body. Nose is a beautiful, full-malt aroma much like that of a barleywine. Flavour is very malty, cavity sweet with a coal, caramel and bubblegum finish. Good but somewhat unbalances. Thanks Crit!

2003 12 oz. bottle: This one poured a cloudy brown color. There wasn't too much head at all. A bit of fruit and spices to the nose, with a hint of roastiness in the background. The taste is malty, yet a touch sour. Possibly some cherries in there? Slightly dry and a hint of bitterness to the aftertaste. Good!

Deep garnet color. Slight fluffy head. Fruity/spicy aroma with a hint of soap. Flavor starts with a fruity malt and has a bit of bitterness at the finish. Dark cherries predominate. It's a nice winter drinker. Full bodied and smooth.

Deep brown color with off white head. Aroma is rich with toasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, slightly spicey. Flavor is slightly sweet, pretty malty, caramel evident, a touch of alcohol warmth at the finish. Overall a very nice brew and one of my favorite winters. Looking forward to trying it again.

Draught: Pours a dark copper with a thick cream-colored head. Sweet caramel malty aroma with some northwestern hops. Good sweetness throughout the body with a hint of cinnamon spice and good hoppy balance. Finishes crisp and dry. A pleasant winter seasonal.

Pours a reddish brown, dark, rich brown head. Nice. Aroma of spiced, chocolate truffles and booze. Thick, though not syrupy body is pleasant enough to have another. A decent winter beer that warms the spirits, but there are better winter choices. Would have appreciated more bitterness, but malt seems nicely balanced.

Jazz88, Thanks for sending me this brew, You are a King!
Pours a really deep mahogany body more on the brown side, with a tan velvety head. The aroma is very fruity, yeasty, malty, nutty, spicy, - eeeeeee lots of eeeeeeeee’s. As for the flavor, it’s quite toasty, wheat bread, black pepper, leather, plums toffee, lots of crazy stuff, surprisingly complex. I think there’s some clove or bay leaf in here? The palate is creamy very silky, as the brew begins sweet and finishes tart and dry. Rather enjoyable and unique – I could mistake this for a Belgian Strong / Brun!

Malt, fruit, spicy hops, and a hint of alcohol in the aroma. Brown-amber in color, pillowy off-white head. Great balance in the flavor of dark malts, spicy/piney hops, and fruity esters. Slightly bitter finish. Full-bodied, slightly warming. An outstanding balanced beer.
