Nice color, deep, deep red-brown. The head is average size and dry and sandy looking. The aroma is warm malt and is a bit spicy. The flavor is less malty than I would have thought with the appearance. A bit sour in the finish. Coriander? The mouthfeel is a bit fuzzy.

Nice thick body, very creamy in the mouth. the flavor is very subdued and friendly. the alcohol is warming in the end and as i exhale. a few spices are evident but there is nice hop flavor and bitterness in the end.

Dark amber. Good spice profile; coriander, orange peel. Nice hop presence. Bitterness present at end.

Frothy head, slowly diminishing. Mildly carbonated. Cherry cola color. Hoppy-barley aroma. Hoppy start to finish. One of the better Christmas seasonals Iíve had.

(26Dec2002--draft) UGH! What the hell happened here?! Starts with an amazingly frothy, super lacy, super creamy head, which, equally amazingly, neither persists nor adds much effervescence to the beer. Still, these sins are forgivable. But what was up with the CHLORINE? It started assaulting my nose, and the assault intensified once it hit my taste buds. Heavily bittered, though with a thin mouthfeel and a strong resemblance to iced tea. Dark, in the same way that Full Sail Ale. A very disappointing experience. Perhaps I will try it in a bottle. I did not finish my pint.

Tangy and tasty, spicy and fruity. Beautiful but a bit lacking in flavor.

Itís hard to imagine a beer looking much better than this. A shiny ruby/brown with a pillowy light tan head that lasts and lasts. The hops were interesting, indeed, but for having four different types of malts, this beer did not seem to have much malt complexity. Predominant flavors were of caramel, and especially black cherry. A bit like a fruitcake. Alcohol flavor is omnipresent.

It has a malty palate, but spicy flavor in with the hops help to balance this beer perfectly. It is an excellent winter brew.

Iím new at rating but this was pretty good! Spicy flavor reminescent of eggnog with cinnamon and nutmeg. Not too sweet yet not overly hoppy.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2003 Release 2003: The beer as it spills from the bottle a translucent deep sanguineous color with a splendid somewhat creamy tan head, and the lace a nice sealing sheet. Nose is spicy sweet, coriander, light hits of cinnamon, fresh and clean to the senses, the start is malt rich, sweet and the top middling in its feel. Finish is briskly acidic, the hop powerful in their spiciness, and the aftertaste quite dry and long lasting. A decent drinking beer, but I canít really say itís a favorite.<P> Release 2002: Well itís been 2 years since I sampled this beer, so letís see if it has improved any in that time. The pour is an unblurred sanguineous color, the head exorbitant in size and frothy in texture, as it degenerates, it leaves glutinous sheets of lace to smother the glass. Quite an aromatic nose, cinnamon and nutmeg, coriander and, malt, lightly sweet and a real sniffer for the old schnozzle. Start is all malt, the top skimpy in mouth feel, just not all there, the finish is mildly carbonated, sparsely hopped, the aftertaste dry and lightly bitter. Canít really say this beer does much for me, waterish and just lacking in my humble opinion.
