2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark ruby color into the glass, with a smallish off-white head. Aroma is of caramel malt and hops. Taste is a mix of hoppy earthiness and bitterness, with light sugar and malt. The first time I heard the term "Wassail," it was referring to hot spiced apple cider mixed with spiced rum.
12 oz. beer.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2008 Draught. Mild sweet aroma, strawberry and cherry. Dark ruby with patchy off-white head. Opens sweet and muddled, finishes sour and slightly offensive. Cloying and dry palate.
Bottle. Sweet and spicy nose, some caramel. Dark ruby-brown with a steady head and good lacing. Somewhat chalky with notes of cherries and caramel. Very dry finish, somewhat harsh. Gets more undrinkable with every sip.

Bottle pours a deep, rich mahogany color with a foamy tan head. Sweet fruity and malty aroma. Sweet flavor initially that quickly turns slightly sour with a bitter finish.

Draft at Pony with James, Andy, Feng. Pour was not memborable, very thin head, and I don’t remember there being very much of an aroma either. This was thin-bodied and easy drinking, but wasn’t a "good" beer in any other way. I tasted a little bit of a grainy maltiness.

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Had a the flavors you would expect to find in a winter ale, but just not still not that exciting of a beer.

2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Rather middle of the road in taste - neither very hoppy or truly rich and malty. On a night when friends and I rated 20 winter beers, this finished a bit below average

Pours brown with a rather insignificant head. I actually thought it was a bit too hoppy, with some unpleasant sourness. It settled pretty heavily on my tongue.
