Gromit (460), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Nov 20, 2004 Okay, I just spent 15 fucking minutes writing a very well and thought out review and once again the site hung for 15 minutes and I had to hit refresh which erased my fucking review, so I’m just going to do the fucking numbers.
BTW, this is a really good IPA and worth seeking out. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 13, 2004 Bottle Pours a medium amber with a thick long lasting sandy head. Lots of hops in the aroma, a bit dark and woody. Flavor is srtrong hops at first then after a moment a bold malty wood flavor takes over. Lots of full body flavor and a nice risc feel. Moderate carbonation and a crisp bitter finish. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Nov 10, 2004 2004 reserve. Pours a nice amber, perfectly transparent, with a tall white head. Tons of cascade hops in the aroma, very citrusy. Taste has just a tease of malty sweetness then it is dropkicked by the awesome power of the hop wave. Very fresh hoppy tasting, probably dryhopped. Very smooth and crisp with a dry finish. Hab40oz (242), Grants Pass, Oregon, USA Nov 10, 2004 pours like a moderatly dark pale ale, smells very hoppy like a IPA. Aromatic sweet Cascade hops. Tastes like a very nice, fairly strong IPA. Very frsh hop taste, fairly sweet to start then turn to a nice bitterness. Much like hopocity but not as rich and malty and not as hoppy naturally. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic Nov 5, 2004 bottle. regular amber colour. aroma of pine and prune juice. a bit sticky and stale, decent citric, slightly tinny bitterness but lacking character 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Nov 1, 2004 Bottle (2004) pours a slightly hazy amber, medium sized frothy white head, attractive lacing, with very little carbonation. Hops on the aroma, slightly smokey. Hop bitterness, a very subtle charred wood flavor, some pine, and also a bit of tobacco. Good body and mouthfeel. Finishes with a slight bitterness, fairly smooth too. An easy PNW favorite for the Holidays, that is if you enjoy IPAs.
Sickboy282 (1098), San Diego, California, USA Aug 17, 2004 2002 vintage---Pours a deep orange with a slight off-white head with aromas of nutmeg. spice and a little banana for good measure. Flavors of the same with a slight hop backbone. Age is somewhat noticable, but still a nice winter brew that is a change from the basic ale that is overly spiced. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 12, 2004 Clear dark amber body, short-lived off-white head. The aroma has light grapefruit rind, grape vine stem and vanilla cake. Intense american hops in the flavor - grapefruit tempered by sweet grassiness. Additionally, there’s cinnamon stick, cookie dough and bitter grapefruit in the finish. A pretty typcal PNW IPA, not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.
