Bottle @ home. Pours clear amber with a small, frothy off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is pine, citrus, and resin hops with biscuit and straw malt. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness, supporting malt, light fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle. At first blush this doesn’t impress as anything special. It looks, smells and feels like any of a jillion other APAs out there. But on the palate, this has an above average spicy kick in a fully flavored and well bodied ale. This could be a fridge beer. (#5429, 2/7/2014)

Bottle. Pours a clear dark copper body under a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is really nice as far as the hops go, citrusy and bright. The malt comes across as a bit heavy on the caramel in the aroma though. The flavor is overly sweet though, lots of brown sugar and burnt caramel up front, and it really lingers on the finish. There’s a fair amount of bitter and citrusy hops in here for an APA, but they just get dominated by the malt. Medium bodied and a bit sticky with fizzy carbonation. Meh, too much sweetness in here.

Bottle from Shawan Liquors. Pours golden with a thin white head. Has a bit of pine on the nose. A bit maltier on the tongue than I prefer. Has a slight hop bite on the finish. It’s drinkable but not particularly compelling.

Bottle poured into a nonic pint glass. Pours a clear amber with just under a finger off-white head. Aromas of citrus, light dankness, pine, floral. Tasting notes of floral, pine, caramel, grapefruit citrus, resiny hops. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this but it tastes pretty good to me.

Full Tilt Pale Ale. Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a nice amber color with a small off white head. The nose has light cracker notes with some citrus and slight floral notes. The flavor has a more pronounced hop presence. Solid citrus and earthy bitterness paired with the crackery malt notes. Light to medium body with average carbonation leading to a medium bitter finish. A pretty solid pale ale.
