3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mcberko (2192) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 31, 2011
500mL bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours vibrant dark mahogany. Woodiness jumps out on the nose, with toffee, burnt caramel and English hops. Flavour matches this almost exactly with the woodiness and hops lingering on the palate. Quite decent.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Matts_Property (589) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 31, 2011
500ml bottle split with mcberko. Pours a rich dark mahogany with little to no head. Aroma of malts, cherries and also quite sweet. Tastes medium bodied, mostly roasted malts also has subtle flavour of cherries. Finishes quite dry on the palate and leaves a taste of dark chocolate and burnt caramel/toffee. Not bad.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 LordDrachen (107) - reggio emilia, ITALY - MAR 31, 2011
More like an English IPA than an English Strong. Not so complex, but interesting and drinkable. Dark orange/amber colored. White thin head. Aroma is full of malt, sherry-like hints, raisins and other dry fruits, some butter-like hint too.
Taste is sweet, with a medium body. Not so impressive finish.
Rather good, not excellent.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Grima (1200) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - MAR 27, 2011
The beer in the glass is copper brown, slightly cloudy, with a beautiful fine-pored creamy head. The beer smells malty and fruity, especially cherry, also slightly liqueur-like. The beer starts directly with massive malt body, which turns out very roasty. The aftertaste is roasty and slightly fruity, with a light cherry flavor, accompanied by a little licorice. The further course is along these lines: licorice, cherry and roasted malt. All in all, a tasty beer with massive volume!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ogivlado (4275) - Zagreb, CROATIA - MAR 25, 2011
Bottled 500ml. - from the London Pride store in Ljubljana, shared with Marko.
Clear amber coloured, medium sized off-white head that went away slowly, malty nutty nose. Slight roasted malt, moderate coffee and nutty with hint of oranges near the finish. Short and pretty empty finish. Pitty for this one. Overrated a lot.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 bigabe (166) - California, USA - MAR 20, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2011 Pours a perfect, beautiful clear red with a foamy, yet creamy, two finger tan head. Aroma is not very strong, but it is good. Lots of savory, malty, biscuit smells, as well as a good herby hop smell. Taste is a very complex of malts, with lots of buttery biscuit flavors, and then the beer finishes with a nice hop bite to clean everything out. The drinkability of this beer is absolutely insane. You can polish off a whole bottle in what seems like only a few sips. This is a very, very, very good beer.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lalli (237) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 19, 2011
Great dark amber color. The aroma is complex with hints of caramel and licorice. Nice bitterness, a delightful brew.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Marko (2977) - Split, CROATIA - MAR 16, 2011
Finally got to try this one. Bottle from the London Pride store in Ljubljana. Poured a dark amber-red body with a big off white head that went away slowly. Sweet full malty nose with some dryish bitterness. Coffeish sweet malty, slightly bitter and roasty taste, having some light herbal notes and ending empty. Oh come on, this is ok but nowhere near 3.8!
