4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Shrews629 (193) - Kentucky, USA - JAN 19, 2011
Amber, copper and burnt orange in color. Some dark yellow highlights around the bottom. Off white, creamy, nicely thick head. The head really stuck around and had very nice retention. The aroma came off with some fragrances of alcohol. Also, got some hints of a buttery note combined with some fruit in the nature of grapes and dried raisin and plums. Picking up some bread or biscuit malts also. A lot going on here. The taste shows the dry breadiness with an alcohol punch. The fruit sweetens the dryness. Tastes a bit like a fruit cake. No bitterness to speak of. Seems pretty well balanced. Medium mouthfeel. Dry and smooth. Covers the palate decently with a bit of the alcohol warmth. This beer is pretty good. Maybe just a bit more of the alcohol flavor than I typically like, but still enjoyable. Very solid and a good change for me. I wouldn’t mind having this on occasion for sure.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mansquito (1607) - washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 15, 2011
New Beer Distributors, NY 16.9 oz ($5): Pours a darkish amber color with a short-lived creamy off-white head; however, the remnants of said head linger for quite a whiles. Aroma is pleasant, hops are most upfront, followed by an underflying fruitiness. Of course tasty malts are present. Anyway, the taste of this beer is one reminiscent of many IPAs. Hops are a strong force, especially for a British beer, but are very well balanced with the malts. Nicely bitter, but exactly enough that it doesn’t impede repeated sips. When I drink beers like this I think that this is exactly what I would a beer to taste, if I were to only have to drink one beer. Quality stuff.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kalervo (233) - FINLAND - JAN 11, 2011
Fine ale. In my opinion, not as good as Fullers ESB but really good anyway.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 madmitch76 (5176) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 6, 2011
16th September 2007 Warning! Early amateur rating! Dark beer. Lots of malt and chocolate but then it’s followed by bitter coffee which jars. Just a bit too much like hard work.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Quack-Duck (5601) - Down South, GERMANY - JAN 6, 2011

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 davidm (1246) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 1, 2011
Bottle 500ml. Masterpiece. Aromas of peach, caramel, liquour, oak, and dough. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, very long length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Red, with a frothy white head.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 alexcandy (58) - Whitstable, Kent, ENGLAND - JAN 1, 2011
Nice colour, darkish brown with a creamy head. Quite strong at 6.3 but well done not much of an alcohol taste. Slightly sweet, very smooth.
Some people call mash potatoes or chilli comfort food, well if you can have comfort drinks this is it. (for me at least)
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 savnac (1365) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - DEC 31, 2010
Bottle. Clear deep amber with a thick, foamy beige head. Aroma of biscuit dough, herbal hops and caramel. The flavor is more biscuity malt, some fruity yeasty esters, rich caramel and a light hop bitterness to balance the sweetness. Medium body with a mild carbonation and a smooth, clean mouth feel. Great beer that is super drinkbable and packed full of flavor.
