Bottle. A - Deep red-orange amber color. Decent sized, bubbly and foamy head that is a light beige ivory color. A little below average retention with almost no lacing left. S - Good amount of toasted caramel malt, as well as some bready smell. Also some general fruitiness with apple and some orange being the strongest. T - A lot of bready malt taste with some caramel and grain taste too. Some earthy hops along with a bit of floral hops as well. Also a fair amount of gold fruit (good amount of apple and orange). Sweet base and good amount of malts throughout., but fair amount of hop bitterness and fruity tang balances it out. Just a hint of alcohol taste is present. M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Rich and smooth and a bit creamy. D - Easy to drink with great mouthfeel that goes down easy. Rich and full flavors with a good balance of malt/bread taste and some hop/fruity tang. Notes: Really good beer that is full of English hops and bready malts as well as fruit. Really nice mouthfeel and flavors. Might get a little bready but well balanced beer. I would definitely recommend this.

Ladies and gentlemen this is beer with a malt backbone. Pours the most beautiful amber copper tone, with a deep thick head. Tight carbonation. Aroma is earthy, fruity and.....malty! This is a heavy beer with not much in the hop area. Not as balanced as far as hops and malt, but good nonetheless.

Bottle pour from Pound and Pence. Reminded me of a light barleywine. A sweet, malty aroma gives way to a nicely balanced malt character with strong, darkly fruity notes and a touch of hop bitterness on the tail. Medium in body and nicely carbonated. Not a sessioner - unless you’re pretty hardcore. Tasty and a dynamic beer.

Tall creamy off white head, clear amber body, aroma is distinctly sweet and fruity apple juice, caramel, mild roast, maybe a hint of tobacco, flavor is bold, initial flavor is all malt, caramel, mild rye spice, husk, mild roast, leads into dark fruit, raisins, figs, huge malt flavors are balanced very well against some piney noble hop bitters, mild diacetyl, tasty stuff! Extremely well balanced

Bottle. Dark amber colour with a thick, creamy and lasting off-white head. The aroma sweet, caramel malt. The flavour is soft, sweet and malty with a bitter finish. Aftertaste is filled with fresh bitterness and it lasts long. Very tasty English strong ale.

500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a reddish-copper color with an ample tan head that has plenty of lacing and fades slowly. Aroma is moderate in strength and illuminates raisins, malts, almonds, anise and toffee. Flavor pretty much mirrors the aroma. Mouthfeel is a touch thin up front but rounds out to a nice satisfying fullness, the carbonation is light but adequate. Finish is dry and earthy with just a touch of hops and some lingering caramel sweetness. Overall this is a superbly crafted beer.
