Part of my low rating for this ale is my fault--I’m not a big fan of English & Belgium ales. That being said, however, I don’t believe in relative rankings: a beer is either good or it is not. This ale is not the best. I need to stay away from these infernal English & Belgium ales.

Deep amber color with a small tan head. Malty and funky aroma lead to a nice dry crisp taste, kind of like an ESB but bigger. Nice lingering flavor of sweet malts, but still dry. Very Good.

A nice rich flavor, boisterious in color and aroma. Distinctive, bold aftertaste and a gorgeous whipped caramel head. Good with desserts for its consistency.

It poured a lightly brown dark golden liquid with a big lasting foam, that left allot of lacing. It had a smell of caramell and something funky like an outdoor toilette. It had a smooth mouthfeel at first but got stingy further back in my mouth. It tasted of caramell, malt, some roasted notes and funky toilette. Not very good.

Dark amber of color with a beige head. An aroma of malt, bread and bisquit. A flavor of bitter, malt, caramel and sweets.

500ml Bottle - Copper with red tinges and a tan head. Fruity and malty aroma with raisins and marzipan. Rich, fruity and vinous taste with hints of alcohol, raisins and fruitcake, followed by a bittersweet finish.

Lots of licorise and dark fruit throughout. Perhaps not in 100% condition this bottle, but still showed a lot. QUite rich and probably a one bottle drink on a nice chilly evening.

Nutty, bread aroma and looks like a dark amber/light brown color with superb head retention and lacing. Flavor of standard ales, with notes of malty goodness and a strong hoppy finish. Uneventful palate and overall this is a pretty good ale that i’ll hopefully gain a better taste for. Cheers!
