Excellent beer. Nice dark amber with a really nice head. Aroma of pale and caramel malts, fruitiness, and mild hops. Well balanced flavor between the malt and hops. Medium-full bodied with just the right carbonation. Again, very nicely balanced.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BBE 02 NOV 12, 20111208) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, dark fruits, dried plum and raisins. Palate was full bodied and quite dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, dark fruits, caramell, herbalness and bitterness. Afertaste was malty, raisiny and bitter. A good tasting English Strong Ale. I wish I could have tasted the real ale version when it was available in Helsinki.

Malty smell with hints figs. Cloudy copper with a creamy thick tan head. Smooth mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Taste is good, but I was expecting much more after the wonderful nose of this beer. Good malt backbone with a slight fruity yeasty note, and a hint of caramel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ruddy red-brown, off-white head. A nice malty aroma, caramel sweetness, a slight hint of candied chestnuts and dark fruits. Oak. The taste is a bit bitter and pepper. Wonderfully rounded, mature mouthfeel. This is beautifully conditioned. Nice carbonation. This is one of my favorite Fuller’s beers. Dependable and satisfying.

A deep, dark coppery brown colored pour. Huge muslin colored head that slowly falls and leaves big lacing behind. Rich malty aroma with notes of bread, nuts, and slight hops. Taste is similar with an added extra nuttiness and hop flavor. A dry yeast flavor as well. Dry mouthfeel. Bitter aftertaste. Decent ale.

Aroma of dried fruits. Sweetness, with Christmas cake in the mix. The finish is drier with some hops. Nice dark colour with a good white head.

Bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a deep coppery red body with a medium, long-lived creamy off-white head. Light caramel and toffee tones dominate the aroma, with hints of nuts and grains. Taste is deep roasty grainy caramel tones with some nuts and layers of sweet malts - all exquisitely blended. Another British-style classic ale from Fullers, who rarely disappoints. Solid stuff.

0.5l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. A deep copper near-clear beer with a heavy lacing creamy off-white head. Caramel aroma but also quite malty. Nice without being to much. It has a average carbonation level and a mild oily really smooth mouthfeel. Both dried fruits, plums and nuts in the somewhat malty and sweet flavor. Really balanced and quite smooth stuff this. Quite enjoyed this one. Have to try again!
