A dark amber coloured beer with a small beige head. The aroma is malty with notes of dried fruits, raisin and chocolate. The taste is bittersweet with malt characters like dried fruits, chocolate and toffee. But it’s also spicy and peppery. The aftertaste is spicy and bitter. It’s a fantastic beer!

Complex dark fruit dominates the aroma. The flavor is strongly malty and fruity, like an ESB on steroids plus some. A very lingering finish to this, an incredibly great ale, not one of this brewery’s ales is anything other than awesome and this ale more than helps to prove that.

Aroma of burnt toffee, red fruit and nutty maltiness. Taste is caramel, treacle and prunes followed by hop bitterness. Woody. Some warming alcohol too. Complex, wonderful beer.

Pours a deep hazy red with a big white head and good lace.

The aroma is toasty malt, some red apple, some sweet toffee, a little bit of lavender & light chocolate.

The flavor is nicely earthy and surprisingly bitter with a good leafy hop expression, plenty of toasty malt, and some light caramel. The beer is lightly spicy and in no way is it overly sweet.

A nice beer, certainly different from what I was expecting.

Bottle. Pours an auburn mahogany with a small, large-bubbled, yellowish-brown head. Aroma is caramel, marmelade, candied/dried fruit, candied orange zest, resin. Taste is resinous, some pine, caramel, tones of nuttiness. Aftertaste is wood, some resin and pine. Palate is nice and medium. Not as good as I expected. English strong ale probably isn’t my style, it seems.

Hát többet vártam ám tőle. Száraz. Amúgy meg: bread, floral, dough, earthy, amber, frothy, medium bitterness, maybe umami, medium body,

1845 is a dark mahogany amber with a yellowish beige head atop. Thick bands of sticky lacing are left on the glass. The nose is well malted with noticable biscuity Crystal and Maris Otter malts. Notes of toffee, bread, fruitcake and a rich biscuit. A hint of hop on the nose is quite subtle. My first taste was rich and complex with a nice toasty middle. A lingering aftertaste of light hops, nutmeg and allspice and a nice alcohol. Notes of candied fruits and raisins with a light brown sugary sweetness are overcome by the dry, hopped up spice finish. 1845 is medium to full bodied with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. A good amount of fizzy carbonation on the tongue. Overall, this is a fantastic brew with very atypical flavors.
