Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 17, 2003 This beer has a fantastic amber color and a good head, though it disappears fast. The aroma is slightly fruity. And the flavor is fantastic with hints of oranges and a slight sweetness ending of with a fantastic bitterness from a great sort of hop. Nothing less than a fantastic beer. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 4, 2003 Updated: Dec 23, 2003Sampled cask conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm.
Dark reddish brown. Sweet, fruity, rounded and malty. Buttery and very stable. All about malt flavours, but not as refined as the top examples of the style. Papsoe (10395), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 9, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Mahogany reddish colour with a tall and handsome head leaving a neat lacework. Very, nutty and fruity aromas. Dry and hoppy ale with a long, bitter aftertaste. Typical notes of nuts and caramel. Pleasant. 091001 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2000 Updated: Mar 20, 2005Attractive reddish-amber colour with a light tan head. It has a toasty aroma with a hint of caramel, yeasty earthiness and light goldings. The flavour is fairly robust, leaning towards dry malt notes like toast, as well as earthy notes which I find contributed by both the hops and yeast. It’s an earthy, woody brew with some gentle but insistent bitterness. The Fuller’s yeast comes to the fore here, more so than in any of their other beers. Good, robust ale...perhaps not as good as when I first had it (as beer 999 back in 1998) but still solid. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Apr 30, 2008 From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden amber to brown. Light fruity nose. Flavour is sweet caramel malt with a light roasted note and a slowly increasing bitterness. Light roasted malt finish with a nice complimentary bitterness to break the sweetness.
