500ml bottle, best before 16JAN10. Mahogany, reddish brown color. soapy tan head. Big fruit cake aroma. Complex malt character. Light caramel, toast, toffee, nutmeg, with some oak. Flavor is deep earthiness, green hop bitterness, hidden malt sweetness is placed second in flavor to the hop. Finishes with a hint of chocolate malt. this beer is the cured for tghe common cold, when an Imperial Stout is not available. Cheers.

Bottle at Rose and Crown in Palo Alto. Very well done English ale, porter-like in character. Deep reddish-copper color with a creamy off-white head. Fruit and malt on the aroma. Nice mix of malts and slight roasted flavor. Some English hop bitterness. Fairly full mouthfeel.

The rep that sampled this told me this was Fullers Vintage Ale that wasn’t matured yet. That may or may not be true, but I do know enough that I liked this stuff. Although young, it still had a nice hop characteristic that was noticeable. I also noted chocolate and sweet toffee. Light bitterness with was also there but somehow not balanced yet.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2009 An extremely foamy head on this brew.Good amber color.Fruity aroma and very smooth.Great lacing!Has an aftertaste to it after it gets a little warm, but this one I like.I definitely would drink this brew again and again and again! Re-Rate:Bottle. Poured a medium sized vanilla fizzy head that had poor retention, fast rising carbonation, spotty amounts of lacing, and an orange hue with a golden tint. The aroma was fruity, hoppy, sweet, malty, caramel, alcohol, and rich. The flavor was hoppy, caramel, malty, fruity, and the ABV came through although not overpowering. The mouthfeel was mostly smooth with a tinglyness and the body was light-medium. A well balanced beer with a warming sensation as it warmed up, worthy of a try, and a beer I will drink again if it comes my way.

Sample from a bottle at St. Louis Microfest 2011. Pours a clear brown color with a foamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet and caramel malts, brown sugar, toast, bread, and dry grains. Flavor largely follows suit, with toffee sweetness, cereal, bread, and grassy hops. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, bready mouthfeel. Not bad but I was surprised to see how highly rated this was. 1845 and London Pride let me down a bit, based on how awesome the London Porter is.
