3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bluevegie (2853) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 25, 2004
Tawny brown slightly hazy body with a tan coloured head. Agree with the fruitcake aroma. Big malt flavour which is a bit too much for my liking. Some caramel and some bitterness. Alcohol was present but not offensive. It got better as it went down.

Rich copper garnet pour with two fingers of light tan head. Nose is definitely malt dominant, rich and dextrinous with notes of caramel, raisin, and toasted grain with a mild herbal hop character and fruity notes. A little bit more balance in the flavor, definitely malty but much more of a hop character. Sweet bready malt with some fruity esters and a spicy/herbal hop character. Full bodied with a spicy hop bitterness.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 berkshirejohn (2834) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - SEP 22, 2006
A warm, rich, chestnut colour with a thick tan head. The aroma really is of fruit cake - a slightly spicy one. THe taste is hugh, with lots of fruti and spice on top of the malt, and a dry lingering finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - SEP 24, 2007
Pours rich dark copper/red with a beige head. Big malty caramel flavor, hints of chooclate, sweet cherry, damp wood, and spices. Light oxidatized flavors only lead to complexity, not distracting at all. Sherry and chocolate show in the finish. While thinner then expected on the palate, the depth of flavors really makes up for it. Chewy dates and light nutmeg begin to show as the beer warms. Hops are subtle, but provide the needed balance to keep this from being cloying.

Typical English strong ale. Try Olde Suffolk instead. A strong malt bite hits you as you drink this beer. It is a solid offering, as is everything from Fuller’s.

(bottle - 500 ml) Rich copper pour with a thick off-white head. Aroma if full and fruity with hints of raisins, plums, spices, and some cinnamon bread. Flavor is dark and spicy at the beginning with a serious malt bite as soon as you drink it. A hoppy bitterness comes at you in the middle with hints of plums and yeast. Finishes bitter and lightly spicy. Very smooth with a lingering finish. Quite nice.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 vyvvy (2798) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - JUL 19, 2007
Supposedly I got this fresh, but it looks like I had a different beer than most. Pours tawny brown with a sudsy / rocky tan head. The aroma has bready toffee, smooth caramel and dates - thick and rich aroma. Medium / thin body with some fairly sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with some toffee along with astringency and light biscuit. The finish is earthy, more astringent and highly medicinal. This really seemed old, but it was from a freshly delivered case.
