Thick hazed, sepia tinted copper with a thick, ecru head. Bisuity malts and lemon cookie aroma with the lemon showing in the flavor amidst thick tea and sharp herbal bitterness. Smooth and creamy with an aftertaste of pastry. Delicious.

Bottle sample- Pours a light amber colour with a frothy head that is just off tan in colour. Aroma is smokey, peppery, fruity, complex as hell. Taste is fruit, malty sweetness, and hops bitterness. Finish is bitter, and alcohol is not noticable. A well balanced ESA with obviously a lor of care put into the brewing. Well done Fuller’s.

0,5 l bottle, Csakajosor.hu, Budapest.
Deep mahagony with a nice ruby tone in the body, stable, creamy medium off white head. Toasted cartamel and some herbal hop in the aroma with some plum, light smoke. Dry taste at the first slip, this herbal hop stays to the end and in the aftertaste, nice fruits and caramel, toasted flavor, light smoke again. Fine!

Reddish brown body, smallish head. Aroma is malty! Floral and caramel come to mind instantly. Also some hints of fruit, but overall this was a solid ale that left me wanting more.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2011 500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear, deep copper with an orange-tan head Aroma: Marmalade on rye bread – lots of deep grapefruity, citrusy hops with some piney notes, lots of caramel, toffee and dark rye bread crust; some dark dried fruits and warm spices come through as it warms; delicious. Palate: Medium-full body, medium but somewhat sharp and fine effervescence. Flav.: Much like the nose – plenty of juicy, grapefruit/pine hops, dark rye bread crust, burnt sugar, some caramel/toffee; some warm spices, dried fruits and ginger as it warms; a little off-dry with a solid bitter finish.

Lovely stuff.

Tasted again Nov. 06/08.
500 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 2008 “edition”.

App.: Clear deep copper with a fair tight tan head. Aroma: Lots of fruits – cherries, tree fruits, dried fruits, molasses, licorice, quite sweet, brown sugar, a little alcohol, a touch of wood. Palate: Medium+ body, soft carbonation, smooth. Flav.: More brown sugar, deep caramel and toffee and less fruit than the nose, still some molasses and slightly minty herbal notes, a bit of earthy hops; a little sweet with some bitterness; leaves a light burnt sugar finish.

Still nice stuff.
