Pours out a rich, amber color. Tan colored, huge, long-lasting head that slowly fades to a rich lace, and a creamy layer of bubbles. Aromas right away of cherry brandy, peaches, kiwi fruit, strawberries, and apricots. This stuff is a veritable fruit bowl in a bottle. Serving size - 18.6 oz. brown bottle. Rich maltiness to it, with fruity esters galore. On the sweet side to me. Surprizing hops bite at the finish of it. Goes down smoothly. Well balanced, superbly crafted English ale. Hard to find in my area, but worth the hunt. All in all, a really good example of brewing.

1 pt. 2.6 fl. oz. bottle pours a crystal clear deep amber red (garnet?) with a good off white head and lots of side and surface lace. The aroma is biscuity and with a hint of hops. The flavor is bread - like, sweet and malty, but finishes nice and hoppy dry. The palate is very nice and rich to balance with the good flavor. This is another fine Fuller product.

Very nice - gorgeous ruby/mahagony body with creamy tan head that minmizes quickly enough but maintains after that and leaves frothy lacing all the while. Bready and fruity and nutty and malty and buttery on the nose. Alcohol not completely hidden in this malty mouthful. Coats nicely with a medium mouthfeel, and then leaves very slowly with just a touch of bitterness to remind you that there are nice hops involved too. Really nice - I don’t know if I’m being tainted in my appreciation by the fact that I’m taking a beer-break while doing some OT on a Thanksgiving Monday, but this is damn good stuff. Gotta get more while the seasonal release is still upon us.

Beautiful beer in a glass, it nearly glows a deep amber. Nose is not aggressive of fruit and malts. As a strong ale, you get the bite of this beer right up front, but there is complexity in the spiciness and nuttiness of the beer. It lasts on the tongue and finishes with the flavor of roasted chestnut. An excellent beer.

My favourite english beer at the moment. Beautiful dark red colour. Nice aroma of alcohol, malt and something sweet (caramel?). Excellent balance between malt and hops in the flavor and with a very long warm and bitter finish. This beer is a gift to the back of my tounge!

Stunning appearance, deep deep copper with a pretty little whiteish head. Aroma is fruity and spicy (like a pudding), with some mild yeastiness. The beer is so complex, with amazing balance, great full palate of chocolate, caramel, spices and the trademark goldings. Wow, this is so good. The finish drives home a little more hoppiness, and a soft bit of chocolate bitterness to think about. Truly wonderfull.

Very good looking, a dark, cloudy amber and a small tan head. Fruity with some raisins and plum, a good malt flavor. Very free of any off-flavored elements and well balanced. Great beer! I’ll certainly buy it again. And I tasted it 6 months after ’best by’ date... I need to start checking these things before I buy them.

Bottle. It was with great hesitation that I cracked open one of the four bottles I have left from last winter to rate it. It did not dissapoint. Pours a hazy reddish-brown with a large, long lasting, frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, raisins, citrus, apple, berries, spice, roasted malt, yeast and more. Looks and smells great! Palate has some hop bitterness. The flavour follows the aroma: roasted and sweet malts, dried fruit and hops. This is really a world class beer and one my favourites. I will cherish the three I have left and hopefully I’ll be able to get more.
