Brown bottle conditioned ale from Armanetti’s, Mundelein, IL. ABV 6.3%. Best before 6/20/05 so I’m at least nine months ahead of the expiration date. Red amber hued ale having a small off-white diminishing head. Intense malt aroma touched with heady fruity esters. Soft carbonation. Medium-to-full bodied that starts with lightly sweet roasted malt flavor with touch of hop bitterness and finishes with dry hoppy bitterness. A delicious hoppy ale that goes great with Italian sausages (my dinner).

Beautiful looking beer in the glass. Poured carefully, with a fairly small head. Noticeable biscuit aroma, not too strong. Biscuit continues into the taste, also malty and very full. Long, firm hoppy aftertaste: a really good example of bottle-conditioned strong ale.

Bottle, one year old. Very rich, in every aspect. Lots of diacetyl, which work perfectly. Malts, malts, and malt.

Poured a rich amber color with a tall, tan head that lasted most of the glass. Rich flavor that was full of maltiness, caramels, and fruits. Hints of sweetness and floral tones. Very tasty brew.

purrrfect head, luvably lacing. AAs quintwssentially beery-a beer as you might ever find. malty, hoppy, deep purple grapes too. Goes well with roast duck and blue berry pie (I imagine)

Pours a beautiful deep copper to nearly brown colour that is a gorgeous shade of garnet when held up to a light with a finger and a half tan head that lasts a good long time and leaves lacing all over the place. Beautiful to look at. Nose is dark fruits, and grapefruity to piney hops. Flavour is initially very much the same, at first its some very resiny or piney hop flavour. There’s a strong caramel malt backing there, and it finishes a touch spicy and a little bit bitter. It’s very dry, and the carbonation is very nice, not bland and flat, but not sharp and fizzy. It’s not watery, but it’s not exactly creamy.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2007 A caramel aroma, not overly malty. A fine brown body and a tan head. Flavour is an easy fruity, hoppy infusion. Smooth on the palate, with a dry finish. Really rather good.
