A great big fruitcake of a beer. One of my all time favourites. Looks great in the glass, leaving nice lacing as it drains (all too quickly). A fruity aroma invites a taste, which brings toffee, coffee, raisins, and flavourful earthy hops. The beer won’t let you forget it either, with a long lingering bitter finish, and a whiff of smoke right at the end.

Bottle, 500ml. A nice clear dark amber colour pour with an average diminishing head. Strong aromas of malt, cirtus and dark fruits. Taste is malty, slightly hoppy and very fruity - there’s also something there I can’t put my finger on. Alcohol is quite noticable. A bitter, fruity finish. Full-bodied. Light carbonation. Very, very nice.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2008 I was impressed with this ale. Nice brown/orange color with an off-white creamy head. Immense malt character with chocolate flavor and a peppery element. Has notes of bitter fruits. The strong hop finish balances the extreme malt charcter. Very enjoyable ale.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2008 I am a huge fullers fan. I have liked every one of there beers. This was no exception. Pours an amber orange color with a small fizzy head. Smells like caramel, some dark fruit, sugar, and a bit of amber malt. Mouth feel is soft and taste is sweet semi spicy and malty. Great beer.

Bottle. What an awesome surprise. Deep amber pour with heavy beige froth. Taste is jamey. Nice nutty almondy palate. Lacing proves the boldness of the beer. Was never a fan of esb or london pride from fullers but this beer (and of course london porter) keep fullers a top my list.

Fuller’s 1845 is a pretty clear, reddish brown ale with a dense, yellow elastic head that has great retention and lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet with funky malt and cave-like smells, fresh grain and chocolate. It’s quite full bodied and very smooth with a crisp, dry finish. It has an excellently balanced taste. The flavors are very fused. There’s a touch of roast and a lot of malt that’s not really sweet nor dry. Dried fruit, like prune, is apparent. The aftertaste is slightly bitter with wood resin and juniper. What a classic!

Had this beer on 8/25/1998. Color is a hazy red with good carbonation and nice head. Aroma is a sweet malt scent. Taste is rich and slightly bitter. starts with a medium body that goes down with a rich feel. Finish is a very sweet malt flavor baked by a light hop bitterness. Its a nisce tasty beer.
